new 3 month old yorkie, bulldog and cat that thinks he is a dog... distracting... ugh Hi, This is my first time on a site like this. I just got a Leelu on sunday. I have never had a small dog before. I already have a 1 year old bulldog and a 1 year old cat that thinks he is a dog. So obviously it is almost always playtime at my house. I am very excited about the new addition but i am SO scared that i am not going to be able to get her potty trained. I have never had an animal that i couldnt bread before but i am not experienced with small dogs at all. I did research, but now im staring at her and things seem different. My situation is complicated because of my other pets. Please help me!! I HAVE TO GET HER POTTY TRAINED!! I think i can handle the rest. Is there any hope?? shew... ;) |
You just have to be consistent and take her out every 20 min and give her a command. Mine is HURRY UP..Your other dog should help and show your yorkie what to do. As soon as she does her buisness say good girl and bring her in right away.. .Good luck... |
Hello and welcome to YT. You have to be consistent with potty training. I sometimes get busy and forget to take Bailey out which don't help at all. |
Thank you! I got scared when i heard all the horror stories about yorkies being impossible to potty train. Iv got a schedule and so far so good. I got great info from the people on this site and i am very happy to have some support! any tips anyone has to give me would be a plus. She learned how to sit. :D She is so cute! Ill put pics on as soon as i get time! Thanks again! |
It totally postible if you work at it... notice I said you. Good luck and enjoy the new pup. JL |
I wanted to tell everyone... Leelu is responding really well to the schedule and i stand in the exact same spot outside and say "go potty"... she is going on comand now (its been less than 1 week) and as soon as she is done i praise her and give her a treat (that is the key i think). I dont give her treats any other time right now. Our accidents are few and far between. How exciting!! Sometimes i think she just spuats to trick me so she can get a treat! What a smart puppy! |
