Anyone use the clicker as a training tool I was out shopping yesterday and when I was in a doggie boutique, I found a clicker called StarMark Clicker.I remember reading a thread a while back and so I picked one up because I have 3 Yorkies and Jeter is the only one that does well with commands, the younger 2 don't. They are 5 months old now and I really want them to be better listening. If you have any feedback on clicker training, I would love to hear what you have to say. |
I thought Bennett was doing just fine with "voice commands" until I hit a snag with him pulling on his lead and not wanting to walk. The click and treat worked great! Bennett's trainer is a big advocate of clicker training. I say do whatever is best for your dog and your situation. With me - it's half voice commands and half clicker along with voice commands and a treat with both! Hope this helps. |
Clicker We seem to have a problem with getting our little one to listen when it is time to come in the house.. the weather has been a little nicer. So I am trying the clicker/treat to see if she will pay attention better, also on the lead she seems to get in her own little world... for which I am at times not any part of. It seems to be working so far.., she seems a little more attentive.... Yep treats seem to be the best mind aversion with the click first of course!! :D:D |

Yes, all my show dogs are clicker trained. There is a down loadable book.....Click To Win. Teaches you how to condition them prior to beginning the real clicker training. Clicker training has gotten my dogs out of some tough spots. |

Clicker is a great little tool for dog training. I would suggest that you go have a read at clicker solutions it is a web site and see all that you can do with it. Really good book called Click for Joy that is a nice starter clicker book. JL |
