Sully 1st Therapy Dog trip... TODAY! ...to Lakebridge Care Center (a nursing home). BACKGROUND: Last week while walking Sully in the park, we met a lady and her golden retriever. When the lady saw us she said to her golden "oh no, here comes a yappy dog" - but she was pleasantly surprised when Sully wasn't yappy or hyper, at all! She explained that she runs a golden retriever rescue and also is involved in a Therapy Dog group here in town! She said Sully's temperament would be perfect for cheering up people in the hospital and nursing homes. We exchanged numbers and so today was our 1st meetup! :D Sully did ALL of his tricks, twice! Once for the patients/residents and another time for a group of nurses. Sully wagged his tail, layed down in hospital beds and licked faces! He sure is worn out now but you bet I'm SO SO SOOOO proud of him! He was SO GOOD and made all those people there so happy! (He couldn't have been any better!) Unfortunately, we didn't take any pictures....but we will next time! We are going every Thursday morning now! |
Wow...Sully did amazing...I am sure that all the people there just feel in love with him..way to go little guy!!! I really want to get my girls in something like that, they are neither yappy or hyper either... :good job: SULLY!!! |
Awww that is so sweet! Sully the Superdog! How wonderful of you to get involved in that! Love you Love Sully |
Isn't it great!!! Tiny loves all the attention and I'm sure Sully did too. Take pictures next time. :) |
That's wonderful! Good job to both you & Sully for getting involved in such a great program! :) |
good job Sully! I'm sure you made a lot of people forget their problems today and smile! |
That is great that Sulley got to do something like that!! I know it is good therapy!! Ramsey is therapy to me everyday!!! |
Kudos to both you and Sully! I have been interested in doing that too. I think I am going to have to wait a bit though. Deegan is 4.5 months old, and depending on the time of day and the situtation he is still a bit hyper sometimes. I would sure be a nice thing to do. It gets you to spend soem quality time with you dog, and it helps bring a smile to a person's face. Good job - you should both be very proud of yourselves! |

I'd love to get Brad to go on some trips like this. He's such I lap dog and a sleeper I think he'd do great. Maybe when I get my life in a little more order. CONGRATS SULLY!!! Keep up the good work! |
That is sooo great...I wanted Maximus to do something like that...BUT he is one of those HYPER, XTRA TOO MUCH FRIENDLY dogs...lol, he would slobber them to death and run up and down their bodies |
One of the most generous gestures in the world is to go out of your way to make other people happy! |
