pheromone spray Hi, I'm still trying to get my almost 4 month (2.5 lbs) Emma to use papers consistently. For numerous reasons, I want her to be house trained, using papers on a boot tray (similar to a litter box). She was using the papers more than 50% of the time but has now completely "forgotten" about them and refuses to go if I put her on them--She's starting to "sneak" around to go potty. Has anyone use a pheromone spray (if so, which brand???) with success. She seems to have one place she likes to pee, so I'm willing to put her "box" there, but I'm wondering if the scent sprays will help. thank you, Sammer |
There is a spray that will attract them to a certain spot. I've seen it at Petsmart. I do not have any experience with it myself. The phermone (sp) spray I've seen at the vets is DAP (I think). It is supposed to alleviate anxiety for numerous things such as potty, separation, etc. I've not used it either. I did and I have several friends who used it for cats and it work for them. Are you treating the spot where she is going? It might help also to put some scruched up aluminum foil on that area as well until she does not go there anymore-hopefully. Good luck. |

My understanding of phermones is that the DAP is for anxiety and not to do with getting them to pee in a certain place. I could be way off base but it was never mentioned i nthe seminar I was at that the inverntor spoke at..... I could be wrong. Cat one we use and it works well and my understanding is that the dog one works on some but not all dogs. Dap Phermones are made of a synthetic compound that is like the pheromnes a female dog gives off while nursing her puppies... for dogs. JL |
