I taught all my other dogs with bells. Best ones are the big sleighbells on a string. These are loud and you can hear them all over the house. You can get them in strips or strings in dollar stores. Right now some dollar stores are already stocking Christmas stuff! You can wind around door handle and let hang down. Beware though ...LOL... once they catch on... they will ring the bell to fool you just because they want to go outside and play. You can be hopping up and down all day with a slick dog :animal36 |
I want to teach Deegan this too. When he is good, and actually lets us know that he needs to go out to pee he usually just scratches at the patio door. But if I am upstairs or downstair and not on the main floor, sometimes I cannot hear him. So I think a bell would be louder. But we are going through puppy class right now and I am working on so many other commands, I would like to wait 'til we are done classes so that I don't overload him with new things to learn. Woud this be a good idea or should I start asap? |
My dog now rings the bell and I am starting to take him out everytime he rings it..but he is not fully trained outside so hopefully he will get it soon |
