how can everything be wrong?????
 

it seems like nothing is going right with my yorkie, mocha. He's tearing up the lawn at every chance he gets, he goes in the house, (yes i tried crate training and currently is still using the crate, and is always hyperactive. i do walk him every day at least 30 min even if im tight on time. I took him took him to obiedance training and that didn't go too well. Am i doing somehing wrong or is he just unhappy with me???? what should i do to help?? i love him and just want him to be as happy with me as i am with him except having to clean up after him as goes on my floor.

mocha is 6 months. Obedience didn't go well because although he's very good in class when we get home it's a different story. he wouldn't obey any of the commend except "sit." when we go out to the dog park there is no way he'll return on command. he chew on everything tore up the utility room even when he has lots of chew toys. "leve it" doesn't work, it's almost like he doesn't even respect me. i'm not sure where i went wrong. And while i'm gone to work and school during the day i'm forced to put him in the crate. I"m so sad because he's confined. I can't trust him to be alone. because he goes every where and bites the wooden door.

hmm.. well he is biting everything because he is teething right now.... go buy Bitter Apple and spray it on anything you don't want him to eat. Before you leave for the day he NEEDS to go for a very long walk.. if you can't walk him for long, buy one of those backpacks you can get for him at Petsmart and put a can of tuna on each side.. this will have the affect of a long walk, but in say, 15 min.

Where does he sleep? Is he free fed or does he eat at certain times?

Come is a VERY hard command... Layla wont' even come every time.. but we are working on it... you need to get someone to help you for like 10 min.. and say.. mocha.. COME... he'll come barelling towards you and give him lots of praise AND treats.... do this for about 10 min.. he'll get the picture... and then you need to DAILY say to him.. mocha come... and give him treats... Come is always a command that gets a treat EVERY TIME... because it is the only life saving command and he HAS to know when you say come.. it's better than whatever else he is interested in.

For the most part- destructive dogs are bored dogs with energy... so you gotta walk walk walk...

Fighting Frustration
 

Your puppy needs to see you as his Master, the giver of all things good. Don't be afraid to limit his freedom, crate training is good for him as long as you establish a routine geared at potty training and stick to it. If he won't come when called don't let him off the lead until he does. Use a longer lead and treats to let him get further away, when you call him if he doesn't come you just use the lead to bring him in. If he ever wins a battle of the will you have lost...you can never lose. Keep training sessions short and try to make them fun. If he's never out of your sight he can't go in the floor. At least twice a day place him on his back in the floor and put your weight down on him until he can't move...hold him in this position and soothe him with your voice until he relaxes. After several days he will understand that you can dominate him at will....that makes you the top dog...now you have his respect. Never hurt him, just let him know you are the boss, the benevolent dictator. Once he sees you as the boss you must teach him how to please you, it will be his consuming purpose in life to make you happy. He will still destroy things, he's a puppy, just focus his destruction on things you can do without. Too much freedom is the worst thing you can do to a puppy, freedom must be earned or it will be detrimental to the eventual goal of a well behaved companion.

Stay focused on your goal and remember that a year of consistent structure will give you a lifetime of good behavior.

A 30 minute walk for some of these little ones is not enough.
Try teaching fetch as it will burn more energy or take up running for that 30 mintues.
