Or should I buy some other product? What will really help??? Thanky you a lot in advance! |
Bark collars boarder on cruelty. No one on here (i'm sure) will support that decsision. However, they do make a bark collar that squirts citronella (a lemon smell) when the dog barks... which is a lot less cruel. However, i would suggest seeing a behaviour specalist and dealing with it that way. |
Hello, this is not a shock antibell collar, this is just ultrasonic and audible antibell collar. And you know: this citronella spray is much more dangerous than this collar, because it corrode the mucous membrane. I was warned against this citronella antibarking collar bye one famouse veterinarian. Bye and I hope to solve this problem soon... |
i'm sorry but it is CALLED a shock collar. And you can avoid any collar by giving training a try first. Your dog is not going to understand why all of a sudden he/she is being punished for barking. It also worries me that if he/she needs to tell you he/she is upset or hurt, your dog will have no way of doing that since he has been punished in the past. perhaps she has separation anxiety.. you should try dealing with that first. |
Please read the instructions which I wrote in my first post. You will se that this is not a SHOCK COLLAR!!!! And my yorkie girl has never been punished to bark...please!!!!...why would I punish her with barking.???? She has separation anxiety probably, but I have done everything to stop this behaving...I also visited one specialist, but nothing helped. This specialist told me for this antibarking collar, so I will buy it and try. I really must stop this behaving-she must stop barking, when I am not at home. She barks 4 hours togehter....without stoping..can you imagine that???? I donīt think so....no one, who hadnīt been in this position, can not understand that. And if i would live in a house, i would not matter, but because i live in an appartment, I just need to care about that. Bye Bye |
1 Attachment(s) The collars are normally made for dogs 8 lbs and over. I use one on our Teddy all the time as it was the best solution for him. He is over 16 lbs and has worn one since about 8 months old, he is now over three. He did have training, he is never left alone but will bark at ANYTHING- the computer, TV, water running, a cough would set him off. He has been bark free since the collar and it will come off at the dog park where he will bark until he is horse and when the collar goes back on he is quite again. This is Teddy with the collar off. He is a big boy and well taken care and very loved. |
I am not a fan of using interruptors on a dog as the only way to train. I work shh and bark on cue first. I also work out the separation anxiety protocol first then the collar. Separation anxiety is what you are dealing with and the bark collar may make the bark stop but not the amxiety of being left behind. You stop the bark without dealing with the anxiety you may have a dog peel you floors up. pee in the house or lick itself until it bleeds. But that said I have no problem with the sound collar for short term use as you train dealing with being left behind or when traveling. Just make sure you watch your dog and make sure that they do not have a fear response to it if they do have a fear response do not use it. If one specialist as in a board cerified behaviour person did not work find another and somethimes when it does not work it not the protocal it folowing it or needs a shift to fit the dog. JL |
I know I just posted but this is bugging me. Not sure who you used but if you like you can Pm me the name. I was wondering if there had been any thought of use of a mild drug to help calm the dog along with the protocal, short term not for life?.. I am thinking that the person guiding missed something. These protocalls usually and I say usually work... it depends on the dog sometimes we get a bad one and need to adjust it. JL |
You know.. I think there are alot of people on this website that are full time moms and have alot of time to spend on their puppies. For those of us who work two jobs, go to school full time and have to take care of a family are a little less fortunate. I have used the small dog bark collar and have had no luck. Dont get discouraged there are several "rude" yorkie talkers on here. Just brush it off..dont respond back. I haven't had the best experience on yorkie talk but have also meet some very cute girls in my area. So stay positive and look at every option. If you find something that works for you please let me know!! Good Luck Chica!! |
I had this thing one time(can't remember what it was called) and it set off a high pitched sound that only the dogs could hear when they would bark, it didn't work. My mom has a bark collar for her little dog, it was made for 5 lbs(my sister also has one), one time of wearing it is all it took. My moms little dog only has to see that collar now and it will stop barking. The thing is, maybe people aren't crazy about using them, but, believe me, the high pitched barks that my moms dog has, is enough to drive a sane person insane. They have some new sprays and plug ins that are supposed to work, but, not sure how good they are. If you have a tv or radio you can turn on, that seems to help. I know my shih tzu is deathly afraid of storms, so, when it's storming, I turn the tv on louder. Good luck, I know how aggrivating it can be when they run around barking for no apparent reason |
