Barking, how do I make him stop?!?!? HELP! My almost 7 month old yorkie is a BARKER! When he runs out side for potty time he starts barking.. there is nothing there!! I think he just likes to bark! He barks at my Dh in the mornings when he is getting ready for work! It is very annoying!! I need to get this taken care of, its driving us NUTS! TIA!! |
Suggestion Well, my babies bark all the time but since my trainer gave me this coke-can taped at the top with beans/or what ever makes a noise. And when they bark non stop SHAKE the Can and they run. My UPS man could not even ring the door bell they would bark. You might try this. I know when they get too loud we just take the can out and now they run and its quiet. You are not hurting them they know you will get the noise out if they don't be quiet. Let me know Cheryl:animal-pa |
Good luck.. I've never found a cure. |
Does that work just because they dont like the sounds??? is it full or like 3/4 full?? thanks |
Barking Well, to be honest I don't even know what is in there the trainer gave it to us. I guess its got some screws, Or something that would make some noise. You have to shake it.. Cheryl by the way I have 5-dogs schnauzers and schnauzers are yack dogs. :animal-pa |
I use a spray bottle with water and spray mine with it. Not in the face just a spritz toward them and say "No Bark" each time. All 3 of mine have had good response with this. After a while they no when you say "No Bark" they cease the barking. Just be constant with it. |
Yeah, I've had good results with a water pistol too. My husband has actually just bought a sonic anti-bark device. It's a box that you fit to a wall or whatever and it emits a high pitched frequency noise that humans cant hear but dogs can, which is triggered by a loud noise (such as excess barking). It has definitely reduced my doggy noise polltion, but not stopped it completely. Makes it possible to live with instead of curing it. If that makes sense?! Good luck, and let us know how you get on, k? ;) :) Jess :heart to |
I saw an episode of It's me or the dog and she used a horn (like on a kids bike) when they barked and said enough. I have 4 barkers and it has really helped, if they are not really excited I can just say enough now and they stop. If they are really excited then I use the horn and they will stop except my Pom sometimes barks a little. I have been using it for about 4 days and so far so good. I am having a new roof and windows put in starting tomorrow so we'll see if it helps them because I know they will go nuts. |
noise distration works very well! |
Hey guys! I am having the same problem. My excactly 3 month old puppy (I've had her a week) and her sister are starting to bark......this could get very annoying. Are they too young for me to use the discipline technices on this page or can I go ahead and use them? Thanks in advance! B.T.W. How do you get a sig on your posts? :animal-pa |
I know quite a few people who have had success from using this!! Its very inexpensive and worth a shot!! Amazon.com: Pet Parade's Dog and Bark Repeller... |
When Miles started barking, I would immediately clap my hands as loud as I could and yell, "NO!" (you've gotta be loud!). I had great luck with it. He stands on the balcony now and watches other dogs play and won't make a sound. He hears noises in the apartment above us, still nothing. The ONLY time he barks is when someone knocks on the door. I can live with that. :) |
I use a spray bottle (with water) and squirt it on the ground between Rio's front paws and tell her "WRONG!". It just sort of snaps her out of her barking frenzy. It works well, and now all I have to do is show her the spray bottle and she know it's time to stop barking. I decided not to do the shake-the-can-filled-with pennies technique because she tends to be flighty and scared of loud noises anyway, and I didn't want to add to her fear. |
I'm still in the process of getting my self and apartment ready to get a yorkie. The barking is an issue that my family has warned me about I know that these guys can be barkers just because they hear someone walk by the door, my Aunt and Uncle have a few of these bundles of joy. I'm glad to see all the suggestions on here and look forward to when I can ask and help from experience, or lack there of, and not just browse and post on what I'm expecting to have happen. |
