Odor Eliminator Is there a powder or something I can sprinkle on my carpet and maybe vacuum that will help control the smell of pee? My dogs have accidents and when I walked into my house yesterday I thought it smelled a little like urine......since I'm not home to catch the "spot" they might have used I wondered if there was a powder I could sprinkle on the carpets to help. |
look at hey look at urine stains post from today I put that on and there are some really good suggestions |

You'll have to get a "Stink Finder", a black light so you can find the old urine stains to treat them. Then you need an enzyme cleaner to eat up the entire stain, right down into the carpet pad. I use Natures Miracle. Until you get all the urine stains up, your dogs will be attracted back to those spots and never be trained. I'd suggest confining them while you are gone if they are having accidents. Only when they are housebroken should they be allowed the run of the house. |

I use Nature's Miracle, an enzyme cleaner. You can get it at Petsmart, Petco, etc.:) I pour it onto the carpet, let it soak through and leave it to dry. If any pee soaked into the padding, you have to make sure you get the solution down into the padding. I also clean my carpets every 3 or 4 months.:) |
This only helps if you see the accident happen or accidently happen upon it while it's still wet. My Yorkie is completely house trained but when I was training him I found that scented baby powder worked great on accidents and is pet friendly so long and he/she doesn't inhale the powder. I sprinkle it on the area and it soaks the pee right up to the surface and turns the white powder yellow. Then I just vacuum it up. You can find it in the baby isle at target or walmart. |

I also love the Bissell Spot Bot. I wait a few days for the Natures Miracle to dry, then clean the spot with my Bot. It works great! |
