PUPPY PUBERTY... pulling hair out! Let me start out by saying I love Winston more than life itself but... He has turned into a little monster  He is going through puppy puberty right now and he seems uncontrolable. Our BIGGEST problem is with taking him outside. He goes crazy when he see's another dog, he barks and gets way too excited, it's not an aggressive bark - just an excited one. I've tried squirting him with water when this happens but nothing works. The only thing we can do is just say 'lets go' and we keep walking. But now all the other dogs and dog owners in our area avoid us and I feel soo embarrassed. Can anyone relate to this? If so, how did you get through this wonderful stage? And did you just wait it out or did you try untraining this bad behavior? Another question to - when he gets neutered, will he quit with this behavior? PLEASE HELP!! |
We just excited and wants to play. If he not attacking you squirting him will make him think he is wrong. Ralax, breath ( if you can stay calm he can... try working through some stuff in the book Control unleaashed) and if the other owners arouind sdo not understand and excite dog go find some that do. I live with an aggressive one so embarassed i am not it not bad behavior it fear and she better trained then all the dogs around she just to scared to interact. JL |
My boy Timmy is the same way....he's 2 yrs old. He just wants everyone to touch him...he needs attention...I guess he thinks he doesn't get enough at home:D He also wants to play with every other dog. I just walk the other way when he starts to act like that and he calms down. Then he's got this bark that gets right in your ears....like screeeetttccchhhhh. Drives me nuts:rolleyes: but I love him and he's definately a momma's boy. |
