what about when it's cold and rainy? which is better for the dog? what are the pros and cons for both? for those who train for the outside, what do you do when it's cold or rainy? |
I know some do go outside but mine will not step foot outside in the cold and heaven forbid if it is raining, forget it. Potty pads are the way to go. |
Mine go outside. Usually they will run out there in the rain unless it's really windy. If so I stand on the porch with them and they usually duck under the bushes right next to the house. It's not a big deal. Snow is easy because there is not much to smell. If it gets deeper than a couple inches we clear a spot in the yard for them. If we know a bad storm is coming we get them outside before it comes since Loki hates thunder, but usually if it rains for days it's steady and not storms. We have coats for winter but really unless it's EXTREMELY COLD like below 0 they would rather run out and pee for 20 seconds than sit and let me put a coat on them. |

We have two choices. We slid on a coat or we can pee between the doors to the garadge as the second se is outside and can be hosed down and is covered in gravel.... but she goes outside and will not pee inside. Another choice is a slab of sod in a indoor outdoor area so they can still pee but it is under cover. JL |
When are you coming back to Indiana? I was just wondering because I live in Indiana and I am always looking for playmates for Izzy. Thanks :) |

Neither of mine mind the cold but one of them wont go out in the rain. For that and other reasons I pad trained her |

Mine absolutely will NOT go outside if it's raining. So, I put a pee pad down in the house for her, but she refuses to use it. I haven't quite figured that one out yet. When it snows or is cold/windy, I put a sweater on her before we go out. She doesn't like being out there so she normally goes pretty quick when the weather is bad. |
Mine go in the garage on papers. We just change them out when they tee tee and its better than letting them out in the rain. We have a doggie door but mine are all little girls and they don't like to get wet. |
Oooh Zoey goes outside..if it's cold she has on a jacket, if it rains mommy holds the umbrella for her while she gets soaked through and through. The only time she dislikes going outside is in a storm with thunder. Thunder makes her roll up like a pill bug. Toby is new to the game. The boy goes fast right now...so we shall see what happens when the weather changes. He is not one for long walks...god only knows I have to either drag him (he likes to stop every three feet or so) or just give in and carry him. |

Dina recently bought one of those indoor potty things and I am thinking of buying it. Not sure if hubby would be happy about having that in the house though...lol. He hates the cat's litter box. |
I love how small they can make themselves :) You gave me a visual...LOL I have seen the indoor potty, my hubby already told me no way. But, we are getting another puppy next week and I have to do wee wee with the baby. I just hope my boy doesn't go back to wanting to use it too. The wee wee pads never seem big enough for two doggies! |

My little girl yorkie would sneak on the rug too. At three years old before she passed away, she was still not 100% potty trained. My hubby said its because I spoiled her so much that she did what she dam well pleased....ha, maybe!! I don't mind the pads, although it does get a little pricey, especially with more than one baby using them. I like the basement idea, although I know I would have to carry mine down. He too maybe a bit spoiled and wont jump from anything, even if its just a foot off the ground. He cries for me :) |

I got a doggie stroller! Mostly for the mall and swap meets. I hated having everyone grabbing and poking at them so by putting them in the stroller and zipping it up, gave them a lot of security but yet fresh air :) BTW I hate wee wee pads too! But I just know when I get my new baby I will have to use them again...:( |

I will admit they are a bit foo foo (sp?) but, mine has a cup holder and place for shopping bags. I bought the pink one, i really want to get the navy one instead, its not so bright and noticeable. Plus, stores and restaurants dont notice its a dog stroller and Im able to sneak my babies in almost everywhere! |

Lol...hubby would think I lost it. Girl when I want to shop I don't even want to drag my skin kids. |
This is true! Because I just realized when I take mine, I end up buying things for them! I have a so much I bought for my new baby and she's not even mine yet...lol |
Lol..... |
