So proud of my baby! But... So I've had my little Roxy for about a week and a half now, and I've put so much time and effort into potty training her, and it's worked! So far it's been 3 days with out any accidents!! I'm so excited and proud of her, especially after all I've read about how hard Yorkies are to potty train. Roxy is only 12 weeks old and she could already hold it through the night when we got her, and it's at least 7 or 8 hours! We were worried about leaving her at home alone, so we brought her out to the mall with us as we HAD to do some errands and I was really worried because she hadn't been to the bathroom since about 10am, and we were leaving around 1pm. Well, she was a little angel the entire day in her bag, and barely made a peep! We didn't get home until 8:30pm and she held it the entire time! We took her out a couple of times to the parking lot to have some food, drink, and to go to the bathroom, but she won't go if it's not on our own deck. How can I get her to go to the bathroom some place else other than where she's used to? Right now she hasn't had her second set of shots yet, so I haven't been taking her on walks, could that be the reason why she won't pee on anything else other than our deck? Also, she's not used to grass at all, whenever I've tried to put her on the grass all she does it try and eat it and play in it, so I'll always take her away cuz I don't want her to get sick if she eats it. Will she? |
Maybe you could train her on pee pads. Just put one on the deck. If she pees on the deck instead of the pad, just take a tissue and dip in the pee and then dab on the pad. She will then have her smell on the pad and it should entice her to go on it. |
Hmm, well I don't really want her to go on pee pads at all, especially since she's already going outside on our deck with no problem. I'd just like her to get used to going to the bathroom on grass, parking lots, etc - just places outside that she's not used to going on. |
OMG she is so cute |
It sounds as if she is doing wonderfully. Dont espect to much to soon. You are doing a good job training her. Be patient. |
wow!! She IS doing really well! I'm so proud of her;) I know when Romeo used to use the pee pads and we didn't take him for walks because he hadn't had his shots. When we started taking him on walks, I started saying "go pee pee" and "go poop". He wouldn't go as soon as I said it at first but I said it over and over and when he would finally go, I would praise him. So overtime he realized what I was asking him to do. Now he holds it until we go for his walks which is several times a day. When we have to leave him by himself, we usually leave him in a room and leave his pee pads and he's pretty good at going on the pads. So I would try that. But make sure she gets all her shots so she's all covered. Good luck and keep us updated... |
