How do I train a new puppy when it cold outside Hi, I am brand new to the sight and trying to still figure out how to use it. I have a 2 year old yorkie named Summer. I will post a picture as soon as I firgue it out. I am planning on getting another one in the winter. I live in Indiana now....we will be living in Scottsdale Arizona in May. I trained Summer in the Fall and it wasn't cold at all. Does any one have any suggestions on how to train a new puppy in the cold? I don't want to use pads since Summer is out door trained. We will also be living in a warm climate real soon. I have a great breeder and want to wait for her puppies. She won't have available liters until January, I like smaller Yorkies so I have to wait until they are at least 3 mths to take them home. Anyone have any suggestions....... Thank you, Jacque |
Get a really good sweater for your new little one. Stick to your guns about going outside. I know I hated taking Kaba outside to pee when it was so cold but I am so glad I did it. She always froze but I think it made her go quicker outside so she can go back in. One thing I like to do is take treats out with you for the first couple months, every time she goes give her a treat and she will pick up really quickly. Then start to wean off of the treats and give them to her randomly so she doesnt know when to expect them. Good luck and it will all work out fine. Oh and welcome to the site!!!! |
Thanks for your response to my question...do you think its dangerous to take such a little puppy in the cold though???She will only be 1 pound then...dangerous for her health is what i mean. |
1 lb is quite small...if i was the breeder i wouldn't let her go at such a tiny size...jmo |
