Collars and Leash
 
I put the collar on him and he's fine...I put the leash on him and he doesn't follow me like people have said. He just sits there and refuses to move. Any ideas?

I have the same problem!

I asked my breeder what she recommended, she says to let my pup just leave the leash on him and let him drag it around (in a fenced area) and walk next to him and after while pick up the leash and he won't even notice he's on it.

Not much help but, it's better than nothing!

I do not like collars on our small Yorkie's .There are too many horror stories about using them.
This is what I do for my puppy. I place a harness on her. Then i use a retractable leash. It goes out to 16 ft. she is able to run around and play. Then, I can adjust the leash and have her walk beside me. She is smart and has no problems with that. :thumbup:

I have a harness as well and a retractable leash, still nothing though. He won't follow even if I start walking, the leash will stop me. lol. When I tug on it eventually, he just slips out of it. :thumbdown

I have the same problemo with Peanut right now. He sometimes chews on his harness and he hates the leash (not adjusted to it yet). He is stubborn and refuzes to move - lays there on the floor like a potatoe sack :D

Practice, practice and more practice. Today we took him for a walk and he did ok. Refuzed to move a couple of times but we made it home safe :)

I am relieved! Cause i thought i was doing something wrong lol..i find myself so worried about the little furball. But it is good to know other people are also going through the samething and hopefully we can all help each other out!

Please do not use a collar on your Yorkie as it can damage his trachea.

No worries :) Buy for him one of those Lil' Paw Adjustable Harness For the Petite Dog from Pet Smart. It's a collarless harness and can be adjusted to the puppy's size. Does not choke or hurt him at all.

Peanut has adjusted to it and barely feels it anymore - he still chews on it but only if it's gets in his mouth (it's loose a little bit so he can move freely).

I hope our little "potato sacks :love:" will finally enjoy to be :dogwalk:
