HELP! Roxy has a nervous pee & poop This started approx. a month ago. Roxy is 8 1/2 months now. She has a nervous pee and 2x she had a nervous poop. I need to stop this somehow, before she pees on the couch! I caught her just in time before she pooped there once. She had gotten scared (nervous) when my BF was at the top of the stairs making noises to them. She didn't know where those noises were coming from and then she decided to do a nervous poop, thank god I caught her, but of course she had to do it while he was watching. Anyway, she does this nervous pee if I go into the garage, or if my BF comes home or if anyone comes over, sometimes in the laundry room b/c I turn on the washer, etc... I need some HELP! What do I do? She didn't always do this and now it is becoming more frequent... |
Are you scolding her when you catch her? If a dog pee or poops when she is excited/nervous, then scolding actually increase the problem. Also, you might try building Roxy's confidence or express submissiveness some other way. Use positive re-enforcement nothing negative. |
Sometimes I do catch her and I can't help but yell no, and if I can, I put her in the pee/poop box but she still doesn't finish there, she just jumps out. But most of the time she just does it and I clean it up. I really praise her and she get a cherrio for going in the pee/poop box. I am so trying to be positive with her, sometimes I feel she does it cause she is mad at me b/c she thinks I am leaving, but since she does when she is excited too I am sonfused and I don't know why she started doing this, any sugesstions on how to build her confidence? What do you mean to express submissiveness? THANKS! |
Example: Everytime your BF is coming up the stairs, you might tell her to "sit" and "stay" and give her big rewards her for doing that. After many repetition, she will associate him coming up the stairs with "sit" and "stay" instead of peeing/pooping. I hope it make since. |
Yes, Thanks. I am also doing some research on submissive urination. I think I need to spend the next few weeks on Roxy and building her confidence so that we can elimnate this submissive urination. I really appreciate your advice. I thought she was having some kind of potty training issue, but it is far from it. |
