Well, Jack knows his name because he picked it. I had originally named him Ranger because I just loved the name. That was his name for a week, maybe a little longer and he just wasn't getting it. My brother suggested Jack (because he liked the name better). So I tried it out when I got home. And sure enough, I called and he came running around to the kitchen to see what I wanted. He doesn't do that all the time, only when he can't see me. If I am right in front of him, he won't do anything. But then again, that's what we are going to manners class tomorrow for. If you want to rename her, now would probably be the best time since she really doesn't know her name yet. It will be far less confusing. Good luck with Lexie. |

My vote is that if you are considering changing her name, this is definitely the time to do so. Either way, I like the above that talked about holding the treat to get eye contact. Thinking about "It's the Dog or Me" show, she does that a lot...never thought about it until the above posted talked about it. I think both names are cute. |
we're all in this together!! Josie knows her name when it is convenient for her. If she wants to come back, she knows her name. If you say "Josie, wanna go outside"- she knows her name. However, "Josie, let's go in" may fall to a deaf ear. I have taught them (we have 3 dogs) that when I clap my hands and call their name, it is treat time. that seems to work better and it is louder. Good luck. Having a yorkie is like having a toddler that never grows up- I LOVE IT!! |
