Biting everything.... HELP!!!!!! My fur baby is biting everything including fingers and toes!!!! We have tried redirecting her with her toys but it is not working and I know that she is teething and her gums are sore but I don't think my fingers and toes can handle those sharp little teeth much more!!!! Thank you in advance for the advice!!! |
HI I just posted a note complaining about my dogs biting too. All he does is bite my hands and feet. If the phone rings he's all over me. I have a empty can of soda that i put pennies in. It works but its never around when i need it. try that and keep a few cans in the house. My dog is 6 months old. |
i have this problem as well! i'm going to try the soda can as well  |
Well Dino had that problem when he was younger. Whenever he would bite me I would scream like if he really hurt me. This didn't stop him at first but now when he goes to bite me he opens his mouth and licks me instead. It really just takes time and they will grow out of it. When he/she start biting stop playing with them for five minutes then resume. Good Luck! |
We would spray bitter apple on our toes all it took was a couple times and he wouldnt bite our toes anymore For biting on the hands we would redirect him to a chew toy |
Bitter spray worked really well for us (used it on the bottom of his potty pads so he'd stop playing with them!) The can with pennies in it is a good idea - or a spray bottle with water in it. I've heard that if you don't have one around you then just make a really loud noise - just enough to distract them. Or a really sharp NO. Then as soon as they stop chewing and look at you, reward them for listening and distract them with something they are allowed to chew on. A lot of people forget to reward them as soon as they look at you. If you don't reward them they learn your not going to give them anything, so they start to ignore you. |
i read this online. stick you finger in their mouth (make sure you dont have nails) and they will have a gag reflex. Dont be too too rough, but they will associate biting with the gag. They wont bite your hands after that. it shouldnt take more than about 3 times or so til they figure it out. if that doesnt work probably bitter spray or as soon they bite say "OUCH" really loud and then ignore them for awhile. yorkies are very sensitive dogs, so ignoring them for awhile will get your point across. |
Thanks for all the ideas hopefully one of them will do the magic trick for her!!!! |
