Cries all night I have a 2 year old yorkie. I got her a couple of months ago, when she was pregnant. She was really good (still is) every night she would sleep in her crate no problem. Then she had her puppies, I moved her to the bathroom in the whelping box in no time she started jumping the gate and sleeping under the bed. The puppies are now going to be 5 weeks old & she spends no time with them. Last friday I started putting her in her crate, she did good friday night and saturday night, a little crying but a few minutes later she was fine. Then Sunday night and last night, were bad. She cried all night long and manage to open the door to the crate. I put a small lock on it, but she cried all night. Any advice? And is it possible to re-train a dog of this age? Please help any advice I'm open to it. |

I already tried that. I put all 6 of them in the crate with her and she still cries and wants to get out. |
Does she go into her crate during the day (while the gate is open). You may need to reintroduce her crate back to her. If that works, heres what i saw online n worked with my dog: 1. put her fav treat (nibble portion) at the front of the crate. then gradually put one in the crate, then in the middle, then in the back, etc. as she goes IN the crate "praise her", say nothing when she come back out tho. 2. try #1 a few times, then later in the day try it again but this time close the door and keep feeding her treats through the gate. 3. leave her in there for like 3 mins. and gradually do throughout the day and then maybe the next day leave for like 10 mins then let her out. Does she cry to just be let out? where does she go to sleep if she is let out? You may want to consider putting her crate in the bedroom. With my puppy we put her crate on the bed itself. Shes in her crate which will not disrupt our sleep yet shes happy she has company and doesnt cry. hope this helps if at all. i understand ur dog is an adult, so not sure if this wil help. |

as for pads: Lotus has great pee pads. they absorb the smell so ur home wont stink! |
also, perhaps shes crying or peeing in the wrong areas because shes trying to get your attention? do the puppies get more attention since they were born and less attention to your dog? not by just you but other household memeber? just a random thought. |
I finally put her back in her crate, it's been 2 nights now. She does cry at the begining, but I just let her cry then she falls asleep. |
All 3 of my babies and the ones we babysit. If they stay overnight I put them in the crate and set it right beside my bed. If they begin to cry I can just put my fingers through the wire and they settle right down. Only takes a minute, they just want to know we are there. I no longer use a crate with our 3. They would probably have a fit as they own the bed. |
