What tricks does your doggie know?? Just wondering what tricks you've taught your pup and how? Mine only knows, sit, stay, down, and roll over. She cannot get shake for the life of her so I've moved on but don't know what else to teach her. any ideas? |
Let's see, sit, down, stay, roll over, play dead, spin, dance, high five, right and left paw, sit pretty, speak. I think that's pretty much all of them. |
Sit, down, sit-stay, down-stay, come, wait, look at me, shake, off, leave it, puppy push-ups, get in the crate (does that one count?....I'm so proud of him) We are working on roll-over but he is having a tough time with it.... |
hmm we've gotten sit, stay, down, up (on his hind legs), give kisses (licks nose), shake, come, speak, turn around... we've been trying to get rollover, but no luck so far... Also want to see if we can get crawl, high five, and I want him to learn to play dead with 'bam-bam' and make a gun with your hand. I've seen a dog actaully make themselves fall-over when that happens and it's so cute! The trick that has worked for us is TREATS and tons of repetition and praise. Also, remember to 'lure' them with a treat to make them do what you want. They don't learn if you force them to do something, but if they do it themselves and get praised for the right thing! |
Jeez Carson only knows how to give paw, roll over and sit. |
My girls only know sit...they just never got it...lol but my boy Timmy knows quite a few things. sit, down, come, roll over, spin, give me paw, let me change your belly band (when he had one, doesn't wear them anymore) and my favorite 'dame beso' which is give me kisses in spanish. Yes he's bilingual....LOL |
can someone post how they taught ANY of these tricks? she enjoys learning (i use a clicker and a treat) but her sessions are getting repetitive |

sit, speak and roundy round |
teaching dog tricks We've taught Tico how to play dead, point finger and say bam bam, and he falls over and plays dead, teach him that one when he is learning to roll over, hold thier treats at their eye level and make the motions of what youwant him to do. Tico also sits, shakes a paw, gives kisses, come, sit, go to your bed...i would like him to crawl |
My dear Rocco can sit, stay, down, shake, high five, roll over, play dead, and balance his treat on his nose til I say he can have it! :) Now I have Mia on the other hand, so far she can only sit, down, and crawl like a baby! Were still working on a her but it's hard when everytime I try to teach her something her brother Rocco is right behind her showing off that he already knows all the tricks!:p She gets distracted! |
Maxi knows: 1.stay 2.sit 3.lay down 4.take a bow 5.play dead 6.roll over 7.drop it 8.be quiet 9.crawl 10.beg 11.give a paw 12.wave 13.stand on two 14.spin 15.wait 16.off 17.jump 18.leave it 19.speak |

how do u do the bang bang trick? |

I taught roll over by having him go into a down and then following a treat to the side. Once he had that down, I said 'bang,' gave him the roll over hand signal, then stopped him when he was on his back just for a second. I'm not sure that's the best way, but he picked it up pretty fast. |

We learned most of our tricks from Teach your dog tricks!. There is a good book called 101 dog tricks...or something like that. |
Doodlebug is 13 weeks and can do sit, shake left and right, high five, down, come and rollover. He's my little genius. He catches on much quicker than Pebbles does. Pebbles can do sit, shake left and right, high five, down, rollover, speak, crazy (on her back wiggling) and get in your house and she will run down the hall and jump into her crate. She will also get her toy when I tell her~not sure if that's a trick or not. I've been working on bang bang and dance but they have been looking at me like I've lost my mind! I bought a book on tricks and it really helped. They LOVE Cheerios! |
I think the best thing I taught Winston is "stay" and "leave it". Both of these commands may save his life if needed. He will stay until I tell him okay, which would come in handy if he ever got loose or I needed him to stop for any reason. If I tell him to leave it...he will walk away from whatever has his attention. Of course he also knows many words...it amazes me how very much he understands. My husband and I find ourselves spelling words like walk, new ball, or treat...hope he never learns how to spell too, but I bet he'll catch on to that as well!!! |
