growling at strangers and when left alone help!! I am new to the forum and i tried searching for other threads about these topics but couldn't find anything. So im sorry if this is a repeat. My yorkie, Jasmine is about 5 months old and is around people and other dogs all the time. I also have a golden retriever that is about 4 months. They get along great, they play together all the time and when taking a walk they wait for each other it's cute. But when they are left inside for even a few minutes Jasmine barks nonstop. How do i get her to stop barking when i leave? I do not put them in cages, could that be the reason? I also hate taking her for walks or being anywhere that people she doesn't know are because she barks and growls at everyone. How do i stop her from growling so much, i've tried picking her up around strangers to make her feel safe, pulling her leash close to me, saying no, saying be a good girl. Sometimes repeating be a good girl works and other times it doesn't. I really don't know what to do, all of the other older yorkies in the neighborhood are worse than jasmine and try to attack people and other dogs. I don't want her to be like that, how do i get her to stop. HELP!!! |
hello and warm welcomes to YT!!! My Kibble who is 8months old is the same way! He will growl and bark at anyone who comes in contact. I have always socialized him and I have no idea why he does this. My only suggestion to why he does this is because he is protecting me, he is such a mama's boy, he does not hardly leave my site. Hope we can find some solutions! |
5 months old is a puppy. she needs to be around all different kinds of people and rewarded for good behavior. She is probably trying to protect you from strangers by barking and growling. Maybe puppy classess would help her become more propperly socialised and comfortable with other people. :aimeeyork My Suzi is 5 months old too. However, she has a completely different personality. Suzi loves people, and gives anyone lots of puppy kissess. It is interesting how different a Yorkie can be from each other. :aimeeyork |
