pee's in my bed Hey guys, Im a mommy to a 10 week old, i got him last week and he has a set routine already i know its still early but he pee's in my bed when he sleeps with me he also pee's everywhere else, i take louis outside every 30 mins to an hour and he does his business there to, but insists on making a pee on my bed (and the couch, pillows, his blanket...etc) I heard about the crate thing but i dnt really like the idea of locking my baby in a crate for the night and hearing him cry and howl.:( Im open to any thaughts:confused::confused: |
Hes too young to be sleeping in your bed he cant hold it yet. Get an xpen if you dont like the crate. It gives them more room |

Also, he has a tiny little bladder, he probably can't hold it all night. Consider doing night time potty breaks. I had to with Scooter until he was 14 weeks old. Also they get used to the crate really quickly, it becomes their 'safe place.' Scooter uses his all the time, not just at night. He crawls in to take a nap whenever he wants. Otherwise the ex-pen is a good idea. |
thanx guys, he does wake me up by biting on my ears ,alot of web sites say that when they are close 2 the "mom" they feel safe and if you all of a sudden put them in a crate they feel punished or pushed away and i dont want my little angel feeling that way. i will probably try the crate if it boils down to that. |
You have to crate train and have him potty trained before you can take him to bed and expect more from him. I mean he is way too young for you to make excuses for him. He isn't ready for that yet. |
You should really get him into his own bed ASAP, otherwise now that he's already peed in your bed a few times, he's always going to pee in it unless you get him completely house trained and wait till he's at least a year old before letting him sleep with you. He will be perfectly happy in his "own" bed believe me. |

Another option is to buy a very small soft side, zip up crate and put that on your bed. I bought one intended for a Ferret, Gracie slept in it until she out grew it and by then she had learned to hold her bladder over night. Just put a blanket in the bottom with a pee pad on top. They don't like to pee their bed so hopefully this should work. |

Crate training I have tried to look for something more speific to crate training but going through 101 pages of threads just doesn't sound like fun. My 6 month old puppy just peed on our bed this morning. He has been sleeping with us for a week and that has never happened. Not only that but he peed on my dad's couch last evening. I have decided that after this accident, crate training is in order. Besides that he lost bed privilges because I want him to know that it isnt okay. How long does he need to be crated before you can really tust he will hold it? And he is less then semi trained to go outdoors. He just refuses to use pee pads. I don't like the idea of leaving him in the crate until it's time to go out and then if he goes you play with him and pay attention and then right back into he kennel he goes until next potty time. And we just simply don't have the room for an xpen. Does anyone have an suggestions? I'm just not sure what to do anymore..... I think I am going to Barnes and Noble to get books. |
Puppies are not plush toys. i have potty trained many dogs and yorkies have been the most difficult. (But probably not more than most small dogs.) Remember these first few months are very important months and what you do will determine this dogs whole life. My breeder would not even let me have my small girl until 4 months. My breeder thinks the "pack" has a lot to teach before you become the leader so your puppy is truly very young. Crate training is a must in my book. I would say 4 months as about old enough to hold their bladder thru the night. Also, most young puppies at about 2 months would walk right off a bed with a smile on their face. Beds actually are dangerous places for young puppies unless yours is on the floor. Hope the training is going better. |
Hey. I am beginning to wonder if something may be wrong. He was doing such a great job going outside and it just all of a sudden changed this morning. Here's how the day has been so far..... 8:45-9am he ran across the foot of the bed peeing; 11am ran across the couch peeing; 1pm he ran across our floor peeing. Our bed is positioned against the wall and he sleeps next to the wall. I have a vet appointment today at 2:30 to make sure it's nothing medical. I would hate for something to really be wrong and it doesn't get taken care of. We have really had him for 3 weeks..... a little longer I believe. I know it takes time but I guess I am just concerned since he was holding it for like 4 hours maybe 5 tops before going out and now he barely makes it 2 hours. |

He had another bed in the living room and he crawled into it to nap in the daytime. Any time they wake up from even a short little nap, take them outside. Babies always have to pee when they wake up. Good luck with your baby. Bobbi |
Thank you for your input! I just got hom from the vet. We called and were able to get him in today instead of tomorrow morning. Turns out he has an infection and we caught it early. We have medicine to give him so he should be good as new soon! |
Hi I saw this post and I really need help My little Yorkie :aimeeyork (Lexi) (10 months old) has this habit of peeing on our couch and bed once in a while she has been really good since January but has started with her naughtiness again and i have no idea how to get her to stop doing it it is causing so much frustration in our household:mad:. Punishing her only makes her rebel more. I was thinking it is maybe because we haven't taken her for her walks in a while but we took her last night before gym and when we got back we had a big surprise on our couch and this morning while getting ready for work I saw our bed was wet too. I am out of ideas on how to fix this problem |
