potty time issues My 16 month old, Taz, takes forever to pee. He spent the first year of his life doing whatever he wants. Now when I take him outside, he will not pee in one spot. I'll stand in one place with him for 15 minutes and he won't go or he will go just a little. Then he'll do the same thing at 3 other spots. I don't want to take him in if he has to go, but I don't want to stand outside all day. I've been thinking about introducing potty pads. How do I do that with an adult dog? |
Did I mention that sometimes after he's back inside he will pee right beside his food and water bowl? |
Boy, These guys sure can be full of themselves! I would suggest taking him out for just a short time. If he doesn't pee then bring him in and place him in a crate. Wait another hour or so and take him out again. If he pees then reward. Take the time to do this and it won't take log and he'll get the picture that you actually are smart enough to catch him in the act of running "his" house. First of course be sure he is not sick or some other illness has caused a change in bladder. They should have bladder control of up to 4 hours easily. |
