Please Help Me before my father makes me get rid of my baby. Hi everyone, I'm new here along with my baby boy Prince. I have a very big problem and need as much help as I can get. I've had my puppy for a year now and unfortunately haven't been able to train him due to college and work. Now that I've graduated, I can dedicate time to training him and observing him. I want to train him to go indoors and have read many posts here on crate training. I have also talked to many other dog owners and vets about his topic. I have gotten many different answers and ways to do it. Could anyone help me by telling me the most basic way to train him? Also my dog hates the crate I bought him but seems to like his carrier which is a sherpa bag. Could I use this bag as the crate instead? Thanks  |

 One year old and not trained , poor poor you ....... i can understand your fathers frustration, yet at the same time wow........ i trained toby and he finally got it at about 7 months (and that is with me working full time and going to school full time ) , i crate trained him and it has worked out Soooooooooooo well, i ended up having him go outside (on my balcony) on a pee pad, but that is just my preference |
Thanks so much for the advise. I am open to anything at this point. Does anyone know how belly bands work? |
i wish i had used a belly band for toby........... it is mostly something to use so the dog doesnt have accidents in the house, i guess you could just take it off when he is supposed to go pee but im not an expert on this kind of training ........... like i said before i went with the crate method...... ive seen a lot of posts from you tonight, but i have seen NONE with PICTURES!!!!! :p |
Orinskye, I honestly don't know how you were able to train your baby. My schedule was work 9-5 and school 6-10pm everyday. |
Lol. It took me a while to post the pics up but they are in the new posts, Titled: Introducing the Majesty Prince. Check them out. Are belly bands like diapers? |
lmao........ yeah my life is a juggling act, it is a good thing i dont have kids yet! my schedule was pretty much the same 8-3 then class from 4-7 twice a week and 4-10 once a week........... i am lucky that my fiance was willing to let toby out and help out in that department, but i have to say that he was practically useless (he has never trained a dog before) so i ended up doing it all myself anyways oh, and disregard that comment on the pics, i found them! :p yup....... diapers for dogs, aka bellybands |
Thanks a lot Orinskye. You're helping me with all of my baby's issues today. Lol. |

lol. Maybe it'll be the same with me since I just graduated all I do is watch Judge Judy all day, go to the gym, and volunteer at the animal shelter. I have a lot of free time to train Prince now so I need to take advantage before I get a job. |
Ok, Is never to late to train your dog it might take a bit longer but its doable. I don't crate train but others swear by it. I found this link about crate training, i hope is useful. You can try the belly bands, which i believe works similar to a diaper. Try to be patient and consistent. Good luck. |
Thanks so much, Marie. This is my chance to train my baby. I can be consistent, patient, and overall observant now. With my other schedule work 9-5 and school 6-10pm everyday it was impossible. I want to give him the attention he deserves when crate training him. Thanks for having hope. Lol. I feel much better. By the way Gucci is a cutie, too. I saw your profile. I am going to make mine now. |
Hey I just skimmed through that link. It's really good. Although he's older, I don't care if it takes longer because I know that he's already used to doing whatever whenever. But now I have all the time in the world. |
