We moved a couple of days ago and the dogs are driving me crazy. They've been really good about not scratching up/biting the new furniture or even barking but I feel like all of our potty training has gone out the window!
At our old apartment, Franklin and Maggie would go outside when I took them and then if they still had to go inside, they would go on potty pads. Well we're trying to eliminate the potty pads because well.. because they're gross, basically. :p So I've been taking them outside. It works well except they always come back inside and pee inside! Maggie does this marking thing so she never actually PEES outside. We have to let her walk around and "pee" like 5-6 times before we can go back inside. Franklin will pee a LOT but I swear he is like a urine factory.
We go first thing in the morning and then I try to take them out ever hour-hour and a half but they almost never pee until we come back inside. I CANNOT clean up 5-6 pee messes a day!
We've ordered some belly bands and diapers but those probably won't be in for at least another week. We also bought a Bissell Little Green Machine Pet to save our brand new carpets.
What do you guys suggest? It's not like they're not peeing when we take them out, it's that they're not peeing completely. Could it be that they are trying to to mark "their" new territory (inside)? And how do I stop them from marking outside?
ETA: OH I forgot to mention that Maggie went once this morning and while I was watching Franklin/getting ready to treat him, she slipped out of her harness (Lord only knows how) and I had to pick her up and rush her inside. While I was taking a shower, she peed on the floor. |
