How to stop MeiLing from barking, whining and crying inside her crate? Recently she figured out how to break out of cage type kennel while i am away from home, so i purchase an xpen which she also figured out how to climb/jump over. I work 8 hrs a day and don't want to come home finding her hurt somewhere so i am now crating her. She is also crated at night because she still isn't completely housetrain. I didn't get any sleep last night because she cried all night long. So I am a little agitated and tired today. Trust me it hurt me to hear her crying all night but this is a must do to get her housebroken. I am a firm believer in crate training. Someone please help me! i am going crazy! |
Earplugs. I can't help you...after 5 days of no sleep...I couldn't take the sleep depravation any longer after trying to crate Ramsey at night. Reese whimpered once and into the bed he went. I actually tried leaving Reggie in his x pen at night. After listening to him...wail for literally two hours...I gave in. All three now sleep in bed with us. |

I had the same problems at first too. You just have to stay consistent. Put him in the crate during the day too when you are home in a busy area of the house. Praise him once he quiets down. Also try using a heart beat toy or ticking clock at night to help him sleep. I use a comfort pal toy I ordered from target. |
We toss a blanket over Grayson's and Abby's cages at night. They never make a peep unless they have to potty. Hope that helps you as much as it helps us |
Not sure what age your baby is. But if he isn't housetrained then I'm taking it he is young. We only put those new ones in bed in the crate so they can see us or up on something like a table or chair. Just so they can see and hear you. We also have put something over the door for the ones that keep the crying up. Also try a microwave warmer to make them more comfortable. Most pet stores has things like that. Put a stuffed toy in for them to cuddle with or a Tshirt you wear with your scent. Good Luck it will get better. Try putting him in another room and with a radio. That also works they get use to the noise. |

be strong! my baby did that too for a week. but just be strong and dont give her attention when she's doing that... if you absolutely have to give her a "que"... my boyfriend and I always said "NITE NITE"... so everytime we say that my dogs know its time for bed... say it in an authoritative voice so she knows you mean it... i also covered their crate... just enough so they couldnt see me walking by... try it.. GOOD LUCK! |
Keep at it I agree with the other posters. :aimeeyork i would also recommend walking her be4 bed. it help speed up that bed process. :aimeeyork Train her. just the basics like sit, stay, shake etc. it helps her see you as the pack leader. a lot of the time when a dog thinks she in charge it will always try to keep an eye in her pack and raise heck when there gone. :aimeeyork do you put her in the crate or does she walk in? try giving her some incentive (hide a treat or two with her fave toy) something to distract her while your placing the blanket over her crate (wink) :aimeeyork put something of yours old shirt sock with your sent. :aimeeyork keep he in the crate at other time as well keep the crate door open a allow her to choose to go in the crate and treat her when she does remember the crate should be a fun thing |

Teddy did the same. Heres what we did.. we proped up the kennel crate on an object so he can see us(he had this thing where he HAD to watch me) and we ignored him while he whined. I also would crate him when we ate because he would beg and he'd whine and I ignored him and I wouldn't let him out until he stopped whining. Eventually he just stopped whining and he doesn't even wake me up in the mornings anymore(he use to shake really hard in his crate and whimper alittle). You know you can try other objects to block in your pet too. With us we have a galley style kitchen and we don't have a baby gate so we use this gigantic painting(we never hung up) and we riged it up so it locks him in the kitchen..he's unable to climb over it or anything. |

and i have been walking her before bed a long with the other 2. i have to put her in the crate because she won't go in. when its time to go in the crate she will run around in circles...from the kitchen to the dining room to the formal living room to the tv room back to the kitchen and its like she thinks i am playing with her...like she would stop and peep from one room to another to see if i am coming, if she sees me to darts off.. thanks! |
