frustrated So our yorkie is now almost 5 months and almost always goes potty outside. Lately, however, he has been going all over the floor!!! how can we stop it, and how can we get him to let us know he has to go out?? |
Do you follow a routine??? I had the same issue with Blaine when he was a puppy he would go outside but more often than I wanted he would potty in the house, after a while I noticed he would run from the front door to the back door and I wondered why he did this, our agility trainer suggested I take him out to potty the same way all the time, I was using both doors and at different times sometimes every 2 hours sometimes 4 hours, finally I started only taking him outside through the back door and every 4 hours to be exact, I did that for about 2 1/2 months straight and then I noticed he would go to the back door an scratch and he was holding his pee longer, he definitely now understands that the back door is where he needs to go if he has to potty. |
We are having the same problem with Buster. He's just about 5 months old, and it seems like he's losing his training on where he can go. We also noticed at about the same time his adult teeth have been starting to come in. He's eating less, and he's rubbing his chin on the ground like his mouth is in pain. We've attributed his lapse in potty training to his discomfort while his teeth are growing in. I'm not sure if this makes sense, but it's the only thing that has changed between the time he was better housetrained and his recent accidents. I'm hoping he'll be back to normal once his teeth come in. Until then, we're doing a better job of keeping him confined and supervising him when he's out. |
