Was there a particular moment... when you knew your puppy understood they weren't to go on the carpet? :D Kacee is housetrained now. It's simply because there is someone with her 24 hours a day, not because of anything that I did other than work at it very hard. I really want to thank Stitches29 for sharing how she taught her little baby to ring the bell. I had never heard of that before and it has been a wonderful, wonderful tool! She goes to the door now and rings the bell and usually barks or makes some similar voiced statement. I can't believe it! I love it! The moment I knew that she understood that she wasn't to go on the carpet was one evening when she had peed in the hallway. She follows me everywhere and she followed me when I went with my enzymatic cleaner, paper towels, and brush :D and while I was cleaning it up I was explaining to her that she is not supposed to go on the carpet, but on the pee pad or outside. (Do I sound totally crazy yet?) She was looking me right in the eyes as I said this and for some reason I knew that she understood. Does this make sense or am I completely bonkers? :D |
LOL that is the cutest thing! She TOTALLY understood you! :D |
I really think they can understand what you are saying. My daughter and I were with my cat named Alley. I told my daughter that Alley looks a little dirty. Immediately, Alley's tail went down like she was sad, she walked away and started cleaning herself. I didn't mean to hurt her feelings but I did. :cat: |
Oh, that is so cute. People don't realize how smart or how sensitive animals can be, do they? |

I've never had a dog before, in my whole LIFE.....until my husband got Sully for my 23rd birthday last year. I can't imagine life outside of these past 10 months. I love my husband immensely, but the only truly unconditional love I will ever receive is from a dog. (Is that rude to say?) Sully has the biggest conscience of any dog I've ever met. He is housetrained now but when he was little and would pee on the carpet, he'd come tell on himself! He would come into the room me or my husband was in, and we'd say "well hello Sully!" and he'd cower on the floor, upside down, covering his face with his paws. THAT is how we knew that he'd peed or pooped in the house. And Sully would tell on himself every time! Bless his honest little heart, right?!!! |
I think my girls understand me when I talk to them...when they use to have accidents I would tell them no and where they should go, they would look at me like "okay, I'll try harder next time"...and then one day it clicked with them and they got it and I could tell they were so proud of themselves... |
I have no doubts that they understand. The little stinkers are sooooooo smart. Well, another week and still no accidents. I can't believe it! I really can't. I've got a genius! :p I'm feelin' lucky! Oh! So lucky! Another thing I've noticed in the last week or so is that when I say "no" to her that she will usually look at me and leave whatever I tell her no about. Not everytime, but most of the time. I'm really enjoying this! :D She just loves her walks and whenever I ask her if she wants to go for a walk, she'll run over to the cabinet where her leash and collar are kept and jump up on it! :D She sleeps through the night now. I may live through this after all. ;) |
No accidents! Hooray! I'm so happy for you! :yorkiesar |
I was thrilled,,when I finally got A SIGN,that he needed to go out, rather than just a squat right in front of me, SO when he started to give me a sign, I knew he knew the difference, he would walk in front of my line of vision,, ( usually the TV) and spin in a circle,,, and then I knew it was TIME!! Or when the accidents would happen he would run out of the room that he just did it in,, and I would know,,, so when I would go to check, he would follow me,but slowly with his head down,,, saying " I know, I did it, I know I was suppose to go outside, I'm sorry mom" But, when they do KNOW to go outside,,,has to be one of the best things! |
Now, that has got to be cute! Spinning in front of you! They really are cuties sometimes! :p |
