The pooping is driving me crazy! We've had Kobe for about three weeks now and I was so surprised at how fast he got used to peeing on the wee wee pads. But for some reason he wont go poopy on the pad. I've tried laying out another one because I've heard yorkies can be quite particular about peeing and pooping in the same place. That didn't work he just ended up peeing on the other on too. He's picked this one spot that's behind my desk. I guess he likes it because no one can see him. So I started off small just putting down one pad along one side of the desk where he usually went. That turned him off and he found another spot behind the desk. This went on until I finally gave in and covered the whole are with pads. I'm not sure this is going to teach him that he can't go behind the desk. I even tried blocking access but some how some way he finds a way to get back there. Please help me! Any adivce it good advice at this point! |
It will take time. When Timmy was a puppy he did the same thing but I had to teach him that wasn't acceptable. Make sure you lay his pads where you want him to go. I suggest not to place pads in different areas of your home. Always keep an eye on him, whenever you cannot watch him I would confine him. Once he does the first poo poo on the pad praise him to death and give him a treat. Soon he will know that poo poo on the pad is what he needs to do. When he does poo poo somewhere he's not suppose to just make sure you give him a firm "no" and walk him to the pad. I use to take mine to the pad every 30 mins when they were puppies and always used the word potty. Have a lot of patience. It will work out for you. |
It took both mine longer to poo on the pads too. They get the pee quickly, then the poo takes longer. Not sure why. I know Baby Chloe didnt like to poo on a wet pad, she needs a clean pad to poo! Good luck, Im sure your baby will get it soon!! |
Dont feel bad... I think it's a Yorkie thing...lol. I really dont know why they do this. Meka was the same way. She has a pad in our downstairsrestroom & she would pee on it just fine... then, would actually go into my living room & poop (next to the fireplace was her spot). It was horrible! We tried sprays, and extensive cleaning and nothing worked... until we found a certain spray (sorry, cant think of name/brand), but the smell of it alone, made us all leave the house for a few minutes. None the less, she doesnt even look at that spot anymore.... She only uses her pad now for both pee/poop (though she might poop next to the pad now & then), but has been doing great for the past 4 mo's. She's a year and 3 mo's, fyi |
