Flying with my Yorkipoo I'm going to be flying with my puppy for the first time next month to NY. He will be in a soft carrier case with me at my seat. Some concerns: US Airways says I don't need a health certificate but I'm going to get one just in case--anyone else get this certificate when they fly? How do these dogs react during transit and flying? My puppy doesn't bark (minimal amounts) but I was still considering buying a muzzle just in case--will that prevent it from happenning? Also, I've heard benadryl can calm them down so I tried it out but it just passes through his system so don't want to use this option, any other suggestions on how to keep him calm on travel day? Thanks for the help. |
Hi~~ I suggest you go to the traveling with Yorkie section Traveling with Yorkies - YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community - all your questions may be addressed there in threads. Including this one I started http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/tra...rtificate.html I would avoid medicating. |
A muzzle won't stop the barking and if your dog's not used to it he may be more likely to be upset because it's quite a claustrophobic thing to do to a dog. An important thing to remember is to keep yourself calm too! It's amazing how much a dog will pick up on your tension. :) Good luck. |
