Pee Pads I haven't got my Yorkie yet, but when I do I'm going to teach her to use pee pads. I am going to crate train her so at night while I am sleeping, how many times will she need me to let her out and use the pee pad? I like to have my sleep so what is the best way for her to be able to go potty without me having to get up too many times? Please and thank you!:animal36 |
Letting her out once or twice at night is probably enough. But it is so much easier if you have an exercise pen where her bed (or crate) is at one end and the pee pad is at the other. Leave the crate door open so she can go to the pad by herself. If she isn't making it to the pad you can line the whole floor of the ex pen with pads so anywhere she goes will be the right place. Then gradually reduce the covered area over time until she has her bed at one end and the pee pad at the other. Congratulations on the new puppy!!! Welcome to YT! |
If you're getting a puppy, you may want to invest $40 and get a UGODOG. Pee pads are disgusting and often leak through or over the edges. Puppies also like to tear them to shreds. With UGODOG, you can put the pee pads inside of the UGODOG or don't use pee pads at all. It's up to you, but it really works better than using just pee pads alone.
