PLEASE HELP! going insain!
 
I have a massive problem! Chewy is very well potty trained, he is 8 months old and we have him on a great schedule that works very well.

It has always been when my finance gets up at around 8:30 he feeds and takes him out. It has always been 8:30 sometimes a bit before, chewy has never had a problem with this...but the last 2 weeks he just whines and whines starting at 7am, then cody always gives in and takes him out because he is jumping on the side of the bed and barks....

well now he is starting at like 6am...and i flick him nose and call him bad dog and he usually stops for a few minuets, he is not aloud on the bed but then when he ends up hopping on the bed i grab him, call him a bad dog and then put him in the bathroom where he goes when he is being bad....

he then barks for the longest time, we dont let him out until he calms down a bit and stops... i just feel soooo mean!

ANY IDEAS ON WHAT BROUGHT THIS ON? AND HOW TO MAKE IT STOP?:animal-pa

I think that's the first thing that's the matter. The best way to train your dog (and not to have your dog train you) is to not respond when your dog asks for something (at least during the training stage); always give things (e.g., praise, petting, food, walks, potty time) on your terms.

This is much easier to accomplish if you don't have your dog sleep in your room with you. If I were you, I'd have him sleep in a crate in the bathroom until he learns that the morning schedule at your house is set by you--not him.

Doing this is not mean. It would be far worse to encourage a dog's bad habits and then get frustrated with him than to get him started on the right path early on.

Teddy was like that. I just put him in his pet carrier and left him there for awhile usually he would stop and at night I put him in it and prop it up so he can see me in the bed(he throws a fit if he can't see me).. he's gotten a lot better and now we don't put him in his pet carrier but we do rig up a system with his leash(to keep him off of the bed) and he sleeps in his bed now. But I agree do not respond to his whining or find a new way of punishment.. like with us teddy is afraid of his puppy cologne spray so we spray him with it and say bad dog NO. He's learned.

Zoeybear and Baby Chloe get me up at 5:30 or 6:00 AM. They lick my eyelids until I get up and feed them. If you figure out how to make them "sleep in" be sure to let me know too!!:D

with teddy if he's in his pet carrier he'll shake himself to where it makes enough noise to wake me up then he'll whine.. another weird thing he does in his carrier is he breaths heavy on the gate and licks it then breaths on it.. we joke around that he thinks he has acid breath.

When he's on his leash in the apt(we rig it up at night so he can walk around but not get on the bed) he'll pop up on his hind legs and whine at me and make grunts at me..

before when I let him in the bed he would lay beside me, roll on his back and roll side to side and all around to wake me up and make a weird sound then once he knew I was waking up but fighting her would start licking my arms and going after my hair and as soon as I sit up he sits down and waits for me to get dressed to take him out to go potty.
