helpp i am about to loose it with Halo. he pees on the news paper some times other times he will just go on the floor and for some reason he just wont poop on the news paper. i got really mad at him and punished him ( I didnt let him move from the area where the paper was untill he went) this was last night and also this morning. and when i went to shower and get ready for work, when i came back in my room, he pooped by the door and peed in the center on the room. i dont know what to do with him anymore. hes 5 months already. should i get him a litter box? or something?:( |
Try not to make a big issue out of it. He will pick up on this and it will make him anxious and more likely to poop in the wrong area. Do you take him outside for pottying if so try and take him out regularly and once he poops make a big fuss with treats and then bring him back in. Dont lose heart just look at your routine and write it down and see if it varies from day to day or if it is regular , also try and look for signs of him needing to go , like circling so you know when he is about to poop and take him to the area you want him to go. Good luck. |
You need to keep him confined when you can't watch him. An exercise pen with his bed at one end and a potty pad at the other is a good set up. Please don't get angry with him. It just confuses him. Just watch him carefully and put him on his pad if he gives the slightest indication he may go. Be patient and consistent. He will get it. When they don't it is often our fault. |
Having similar problems I know how you feel. I have Aiden in his pen during the day. He has the crate thing down to a science. He goes on the pee pad never the blanket. But ouside the crate ,he poops by the door, mostly in corners,or in places where little floor shows. I put pee pads all over and he'll pee on them, only once, but then pee everywhere else.My brothers Yorkie is doing the same thing. Totally crate trained, but nowhere else. Aiden is 3 mo old,but Lexie is 14 mo old. I use spot cleaners, but I'm a freak about my house smelling bad,I have 3 cats and 2 dogs, and you'd never know it. I vacumm everyday, and now I've been shampooing alot more often. I try to keep an eye on him when I'm home, it's just my teen aren't that good,or patient with leaving hi out long enough for him to find the right spot to go. LOL Hanging in!!!! |
