stressed we jsut got our guy Friday. I took him out this morning before work and he peed, we went back in, I was making lunch and he peed on the floor by me!!!! Why would he do this???? I am also so upset about leaving him today for work. He cries everytime we put him in his cage. At night though, he is fine and sleeps through the night. |
Welcome to puppy land.:) Dont get stressed or upset with him just clean up and try ont to make a big issue of it . Are you taking him outside or using puppy pads. We used the puppy pads for a short time just so they could go as soon as they needed ,as you can see they need a lot when they are young puppies. Then you can move the pad to the door , you can use this as well as taking them outside to potty good luck.:aimeeyork |
Welcome to new puppyhood. Just be patient. I know it can be frustrating, but be consistent and don't get mad at him. He'll learn. Congrats on the new puppy. Enjoy him while he is tiny, they grow up so fast. |
Try not to stress out, he will settle in to your routine eventually. Every time I get a new puppy I stress, you forget how much work it is but it is so worth it. You really cannot expect him to not have accidents for quite awhile especially when you are not home. Yiu may want to rethink using pee pads at first. With Cali I had one at one end of her play pen and her bed at the other and I got her at 9 weeks and she never went in the bed she would use the pads. That way when you are not home he will have a place to go. Just a thought. Trust me it does get better and you will forget how hard it was in the beginning. He will get use to his crate eventually too. if you need some moral support pm me for my number. |
Just be patient, he is still getting used to your routine and his new surroundings. How big is his cage? |
thank you for the support! His cage is 2 by 3 and we have the divider in. |
I got two puppies this year and have been living in Potty Training H-ll for almost 12 straight months. DON'T WORRY! It will be ok. You just got him, he will settle in. Remember - he isn't doing this to you, he is just a baby and hasn't learned yet. At three-five months of age they only have a few second delay between when they feel the urge to go and when the little bladder releases! He'll get it. My 14 month old Cavalier and my 8 month old Yorkie finally are potty trained. But, if I am not there to keep to our schedule, I still have puppy accidents happen. They need to mature. I know its hard to stay patient. I accidently fell asleep napping with my puppy when he was 4 1/2 months old (I was so exhausted from midnight potty runs!) and I woke up covered in pee. I was SO upset. I thought I would never get him potty trained and I was destined to live in puppy urine for the rest of my life. Don't worry, it gets better. And in the meantime, to deal with daytime separation anxiety, I use Rescue Remedy by Dr. Bach (available at Whole Foods and other natural stores) and give a few drops straight in the mouth before crating. It totally works to relax them and help them get to their nappies so they don't freak out. And while your at it, add 10 drops to a cup of Chamomile Tea for yourself to help your stress! It works! It'll be ok!!!! Hang in there! |
Ahhh...puppy days...I remember I was stressed out too and came to YT to get support and I received lots because we do the potty thingy few times a night so I don't get uninterrupted sleep. That wears me out. I remember the words other YT members tells me most "Hang In There" and "Enjoy Puppy Moments" because they will grow very fast. Remember to bring out the camera and snap more pictures. I find it helpful when I look at their puppy face and go awwww, I will forgive everything that you do because I love you :) |
SO true. Puppyhood is over before you know it and you will wonder why you didn't take more pictures! |
I feel your pain!! My archie is almost 8 months old and although he goes on the pad to pee every time, he does poop in the middle of my kitchen every week or so!! Like in your case he does it when I am at home, usually when I leave the room briefly...I sure hope things are going to get better soon!!! |
