Potty Help I rescued Peanut from the pound last fall. She went potty outside from day one. Even through the winter when it was 40 below. Now that the snow has melted she won't get off the porch. If I don't stand there and make her get off she pee's on the porch. If I push her off the porch, she walks around forever and either doesn't go, or goes under the porch so I don't know if she goes. A lot of times she will come in and pee as soon as I get busy doing something. I took her to the vet and she had a bladder infrection. We just got off the antibiotics and she is still having the same potty issues. My husband is becoming very frustrated with this so I am considering having a doggie litter box for her to go to inside the house. Any advice? Peanut's Mom |
Living in Minnesota I had the same problem except reverse...Uno hated the snow and wouldn't go. I decided to use potty pads. He took to them pretty quickly...I know some people think they're a hassle, but I love them. I buy the human chucks (like they use on hospital beds) at Sams club so they're extra large and he can use them multiple times. They are extra cheap, as opposed to buying at Petco, etc. Plus, if for some reason I can't get off campus to go let him out he just goes on there and he doesn't have to hold it all day. I love them. Good luck to you! |
well, hi neighbor! Mister and I live in Fairbanks, and I've had similar issues since breakup with him using the yard as opposed to going for walks. The one thing that helped was teaching mister to potty on command, praising him when i see him doing his business. Now, I'll open the door to the yard and tell him to "go potty" and leave him outside for a while. I also check for wetness(eww i know, but it helps keep him clean too!) to make sure he's at least peed outside before letting him back in the house. Good luck. :D |
Cashi is really young, but will go outside. He does hate it when it is wet out in the morning from the dew. It is nice here now, but rains quite a bit in the fall and I know that he will not want to go out. I have got him using pads, when we got him a couple of weeks ago, it was raining very hard and had been doing it for a couple of days so he couldn't go out plus he was so small. |
