My puppy is SCARED of his wee wee pad! Hi! My Mojo came home Friday evening, and it has been an amazing experience! He is so clever and so much fun. I am enjoying him so much..BUT.. I began trying to potty train him when he got here..doing things that all puppy books say - picking him up mid way and putting him on the wee wee pad.. giving him commands like "go pee" on the wee wee pad.. its just when i do that.. he holds his pee in.. he would rather lie down on his pad then pee..and today morning i could tell he was going to poop and so as soon as i saw him start i put him on his pad.. he FREAKED out.. and held it in! He was terrified that it was still in him and was so upset that i had to clean him up myself.. ANY suggestions? Please help... |
Dim Sum seems to be the same way with his pad as well. I've been trying to get him to go on the pad's. So far he's been trained to go outside. I have a feeling he won't go on the pads because he thinks going in the house is not allowed at all. Especially when i'm standing there watching him.. :) Don't know what to say. Maybe just stick with it. Maybe changing pads? See if that helps. |
Hi, congrats on the new puppy. Perhaps try a cloth pad, put it on a pad holder Dog Housetraining Supplies: Protection Tray for use with Piddle PadsĀ® at Drs. Foster and Smith rather than just on the floor, orrr how about putting the pad in one of those small litter boxes for yorkies? when he does go on the pad, reward with a cheerio or other tiny treat. If this fails, train him to go outside? Lots of luck. |

Pippin didn't like going potty on his puppy pad until we put it inside a small carrier crate. Then we would put him in it and close the door of the crate. He wasn't allowed to come out until he went potty. Eventually he would go as fast as he could once we put him in because he knew it was his ticket out of there. |
Do those things actually work? Very interesting looking... |
