OK I just need to vent! The newest addition to our family, Louie 4 mos old, has been a true joy... BUT he chews like crazy! I took off my (brand new) eye glasses for a quick nap, and wake up a few minutes later with the arms totally mangled!! I JUST bought them, $500 down the drain. Not to mention he chewed up our Ethan Allen cherrywood bed post! I've been holding off on telling my boyfriend. :shocked7q I know that he is a puppy and its my job to train him, but sometimes ya just gotta vent!! *whew* OK... :tongue001 I bought bitter spray and been watching him like a hawk now! I just need to train Bentley how to watch his little brother when I have my back turned. He'll be an angel in no time! :angel2dl: |
You brought back some bad memories with the glasses story. My guy used to chew them, then hide them. He would bring them back only after I wrote them off as lost and bought another pair. Hang in there. The bitter apple is good. Also distract him with safe chew toys. Good luck. It will get better. |
Yep it must be something about the glasses. My babies ate mine too. An d im leaglly blind without them! Just use my new motto. This to will pass. |
mine eats everything he can get his mouth on. I have to put up everything. And yesterday he climbed on to the coffee table. I walked in and he was just sitting there like look at me. He is almost 4 months old too. I hope this behavior ends soon. |
When my Bichon, Lacy, was a puppy, she chewed up by automatic teller card. It's the only thing she ever chewed up besides paper. She wouldn't have chewed it up, of course, if I hadn't dropped it in the floor. The bank people got a big laugh out of it when I brought it in and said "my dog chewed it up!" |
I know what ya mean about the glasses. I tuck mine under the couch pillow, and dang if he didn't find them. Now I take the few extra seconds to put them up. |
I can top it all. When our Teddy was a puppy he got on our bed and got to my hubbys false teeth on the bedside table on a Saturday. When we woke up Teddy had chewed them up and broke them in 4 places. Needless to say hubby was a little upset. Thank goodness for dental insurance. |
at about 4 months some one snuck in and replaced my sweet boy with a little monster. He's 5 months now and I think we have a few more rough times ahead! Isn't this period fun..:D |
I know what you mean. It's so difficult to be patient when they are going through that teething stage. I just found out last night that Abbey secretly goes in t he bedroom and gnaws on the corners of my wood bedside table...what a nice suprise!! I went out and bought her a teething KONG toy and that actually helps...it keeps her teeth occupied for a while. Maybe try that. |
You all had my laughing!!! Dentures, Debit Cards, etc....LOL!!! Luckily, when we got Jaxon-he was already 4 1/2 months old & hasn't chewed on anything!!! I can't help you all, just wanted to say hey!!!!;) |
Haha, yes they are a handful at this stage! I will be careful not to leave any credit cards lying around! haha |
Man! my BamBam is 11months old and STILL chews up ANY paper he gets his little paws on... we have to make sure to close the bathroom door or he gets the roll of toliet paper and just keeps rolling it down..till someone catches him..... little brat.. im callin Ceasar millan...the dog whisperer |

good luck I can totally relate to all this. My Yorkie is 8 mos. old and is still chewing EVERYTHING. He has even chewed the trim around my front door and base molding from the wall. He's like a little goat. I don't know when it should all end, but we've bought every stinkin' chew toy imaginable in lots of different textures and none of it has helped. Sprays haven't helped either. :rolleyes:I'll keep my fingers crossed for you as I am in the same boat and can't see an end in sight. |
The only thing Mischa chews up is the bathroom garbage..:confuse2: We just tell him "No, Knotty boy" and he gives us the puppy dog eyes.. We have to keep a good I on him when he's upstairs.. |
