I canīt believe he finally did it!!!!!!!!!! :aimeeyork Just wanted to share with all Yorkie Lovers that I am so proud of my Yorkie Rambo. In the last month or so he has learnt to sit, shake a paw and stay. I thought at one point he would be impossible to train. He was a very naughty puppy but now he is 1yr and 3 months and everything has started to sink in what ive been trying to teach him. He also has a tennis ball (or 10) that we play fetch woth and if you say īballyīhe goes to fetch his ball no matter where it is. I am so proud and to all the new yorkie owners with puppies I just wanted to say just be patient and your yorkies will learn and when it all comes together you will be soooooo proud. Well done Rambo - now you have to learn to cook and clean hehehehe :) |
Rambo is not only smart. He's pretty darn cute, too. :D |
WhoooHooo Rambo! You da man! I was a little jealous when I read the first part of the thread sating that he knew all those things. I was just sitting here thinking that Deegan and I really need to get our butts in gear about leanring that stuff, but then I read that Rambo is over a year old. That made me feel a little less inadequate, because Deegan is 14 weeks, and he only knows how to sit. Good going though to both of you! |
GOOD FOT YOU RAMBO. HES TOO CUTE :p |
Congrats!! Good job Rambo! :D |
Good Job! Horrah Rambo! |
Good Boy Rambo! :good job: Way to go Rambo! I was thinking too that Alley was a little behind in learning his tricks since he is almost 11 months, but he does know "sit", "kiss", "speak" and "dance" with the help of treats. He does know his toys by name and will get them if you ask him where they are. Of course, he still refuses to "stay" and "come", which to me are the most important. I'll keep working on those along with "down" and "roll over". |
Way to go Rambo!!!! Such a good boy!!! I love it when they just get it one day!! Its like-- they do listen!!! Yea!!!! |
:aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork Thanx guys. I knew we would get there eventually. But its still a work in progress. I wasnt sure how to start training Rambo as i didnt have any manuals or anything but heīll do anything for a doggy treat..... also Rambo make high pitched noises when he hears an ambulance or any sirens........does any one elses Yorkie do this.its as if he is singing along....very cute  |
Way to go Rambo! Rambo is very smart and handsome! :) |
Patience works My boys are now 16 and 17 months old and while Garett is a little slower, Bengie picks up fast. He can sit, high ten, give me five, dance, rollover, lay down, fetch, come when called, get leash, crawl on your belly like a reptile, and his best is "bang bang" you are dead. They are so cute doing tricks, Benni and I are now working on jumping through hoops and he is starting to pick those up too. And we do a slower version of "Patty Cake" trying to get ben to pick up the tempo, but he does not seem to excited by it. To teach your dog to come, hook your dog to a long lead and keep him attached to your belt loop (inside or out) and call your dog, every time he comes, he is to get praise and/or treat. If he does not come, you simply reel him in to you. Do this a few hundred times LOL and he will learn to come when you call him. Good luck and good training! |
. my lexi is almost 4 months old. she can sit and give paw, but how can i get her to lay down? when i tell her down, she jumps up at me...need some help in that department please... thanks gina |
Lay down Both boys (even Gar) knows this one. To get your pup to lay down. Hold the treat in front of her eyes. Lower the treat to the floor and keep instructing laydown. Take treat all the way to the floor and if necessary place a hand on her back gently pushing her to lay down. Once she is laying down (whether on her own or not) give her the treat. If she gets up before you give her the treat, repeat the process. She only gets the treat if she is laying down. Do a few hundred times and she will get it (only kidding does not take that long) Good luck. My boys hear laydown and they drop like stones for a treat. LOL |
