I think my yorkie is gender confused I have a 4 yr old yorkie girl (peaches) and when she goes pee pee she always hikes her leg. She marks territory all the time and everwhere  Is this normal for a girl dog to be doing this I have never seen her squat to pee always hiking, and the marking territory well....... Is there something that i can do or is this how she will always be like?? Im kinda worried about her Any advice would be great thanks in advance |
It's probably nothing to be worried about. Some boys are squatters...maybe some girls are just hikers! |
I have 3 girls. Two of them are squatters and one is a hiker. I know Emmy hikes her left leg because she used to sit in the house and watch the little boy dog across the street come outside and potty. I guess she just thinks that is the way it is done. |
Mine are squatters, but my oldest senior girl is a marker, outside that is. Thank goodness! There's always a competition between her and my 1 1/2 yr. old male Yorkie. |
LOL im soo glad im not the only one in this position. I just wish there was a way to get her to stop marking territory in the house. |
I didn't know girls mark their territory also! Humm...maybe get a diaper...like a girl belly band... |
Penny squats, but always lifts one leg up off the pad.:D |
Is she spayed? If she isn't spayed, then spaying her may help. Yes girls are known to lift their legs and mark as well. So if you get a female puppy because you don't want to have to deal with a male puppy lifting his leg, then you may be in for a surprise. Not all girls do it, only some. Destiny lifts her back leg a little when she is squatting to pee but never marks on anything, I think she just doesn't want to get pee on her other leg, lol.:p Peppi my cocker spaniel, while she doesn't lift her leg, she does mark outside, she will go around the entire space peeing a tiny bit to mark her territory. |
LOL funny post - Chanel cocks one leg out & has since she was a tiny puppy - some of my best memories are seeing this little tiny thing on her pee pad - balancing on 3 legs - it's cute to me but she doesn't 'mark' - she just goes when she needs to go - UNLESS she sees Cheri pee - then she pees over it just cause she's the big sister :) and cause she CAN. |
how to i change threads...same subject but additional questions hi, hope i'm not breaking any rules ..Howie is now 16 mos and we had to stop him from sleeping with us when he starting snarling at my hubby. If i'm in the bed in the am we allow him up after hubby goes to work. But heaven help us if hubby hasn't quite left the apt and happens to come back into the room, he literally trys to attack him..it's very upsetting..Also i have had to stop him from sitting on my lap, when he does and i move my hands are even feet sometimes he goes balistic and snares and growls like he is disturbed and don't dare move..he is very possessive of me and it is not cute''anymore..i feel bad as he loves hubby but he thinks i'm his concubine..so i do a bit of social isolation after one of his ''attacks''. any suggestions..i lovve him so much and made the fatal mistake of carrying him up on my shoulder when he was so small..vet says the higher they are the more dominate they feel..it's obvious i'm not his alpha..he listens to hubby but not me....we were thinking of getting another pup not yorkie in late june..do you think he will accept another pup around me?? sorry for the length of this post but i'm at my wits end..thanks so much Howies mom Susan |
Hi ya my little girl cocks her leg and marks outside. It's to do with being a dominant little minx! As to your problem with your boy. You've gotta stop that behaviour immediately. Do not tolerate it at all. Victoria Stilwell of "it's me or the dog" has solved this problem for a couple of different dog owners -- you might want to check it out. I'm sure she's got books. |
and one of the dogs was a yorkie! |
