Doggie litter training Has anyone ever trained their furbaby to a puppy litter? If so could you share your triumph??? How you did it??? How long it took??? Thanks so much :p |
i can share my defeat- he acted like it was a sandbox- or a swimming pool- he dove into that stuff, sent in flying everywhere- he never peed or pooed in it-just got it all over everywhere- for about 4 days- I said forget this crap- still have 1/2 bad on back porch! Banjo was about 3-4 months old when I tried it!! He is using the pads really well- well 90% of the time- was doing better before he broke his leg! others have litter box trained- but not me! |

I am at my wits end with Odie's not pooping on the pee pads He'll pee there NO problem.. but POOP.. NOT on your life. We had him at the dog park for over 1 hour today.. No poop out there either..   Sighs will this ever be a triumph???? |
well, you might try it though- he might take to it- you never know?/ did u do a search on it?? I'd get the smallest bag they have to start though- or you will be like me and have a 1/2 a bad on the porch!!LOL!! I might donate it to a shelter, though!! Yea, just thought of that!!:) |

I don't know much about litter training a dog. |
I bought the litter and box at Petsmart for dogs. Parker would not walk on it, and if you put him in it, he would just jump back out. We also have been using the pee pads, but just this past week he is missing the pads in his x-pen. (sigh) We are starting over, back with the crate trainning and a schedule and outside. |

how old is Parker??? Odie is 4 months and we are having issues with pooping on the pads.. going pee no problem.. even going outside.. he'll pee out there but poop.. not a chance. :( |
i trained Kandie my maltese to use the cat liter ... and she accomplish the task...and i couldn't be happier... I need to start training MeiLing and Kioko to go use the litter box since it a lot cheaper than pee pads..i guess it better to start when they are younger...its a lot harder in my opinion to try to teach them where they are older... |
Parker is 5 months and he was doing great on the pads until a week ago. I started him back in the crate last night. Took him out to potty first thing this morning. He peed but no poo. Fed him breakfast at 8:00 this morning took him out and we stayed 30 mintues, he peed but no pooh. Brought him back in and put him in the crate, and then took him out every 15 mintutes. He finally pooded on the third time. I then kept him leashed to me and took him out about 10 minutes ago, and brougt him back in. He is now in his crate napping. Will take him out as soon as he wakes up. I think his problem with the pads, he was in the x-pen and I never seen him use his pad to praise him. |
I just thought I would add my:twocents: here. I went out and bought the doggie litter box and the special doggie litter (made out of newspaper I think, it is little pellets). Any way, he would not go in the litter box!!!! He would make a HUGE mess  with the pellets, scattering them all over the place and the he would eat them! So we switched to pee pads. Those work pretty good. I would like to be able to put the pee pad in the litter box for him to use, but every time I try that he just stops using the pee pad. :thumbdown |
