Help with bell training! HI :aimeeyork I want to start bell training my Tucker so he can tell me when he needs to go out. I am going to use a service bell that will be on the floor. I was wandering what the best way to do this way is. Thanks so much!:) |
Hi Welcome to YT. This is a great place. I can't help you with bell training but I'm sure someone on here can. |
My daughter had a bell hanging on their door knob so when it opened it rang. Her dog and cat ring it when they are at the door to go out. She never trained them. They picked it up themselves.:) Good luck. |
If you do a search with the keywords potty bell training you will get tons of info..I started a thread like this a long time ago and received really great info. |
Thank you so much! :) I am pretty new and didn't realize you could do that. I found what I was looking for. Check out Tucker at http://www.dogster.com/dogs/768279 |

Hi! Fellow Minnesotan :) Welcome to YT I was going to respond here but see you found the info you need!! Good luck with the training with bells. It is wonderful for us to have the bells!!! Much easier than looking all the time for who is sitting by the door and waiting, LOL |
My yorkie just started about 3 weeks ago on the bell, after about 3 days of making him tap it before going potty he got it and was tapping it himself, however he was doing it all the time and really didn't have to potty he just wanted to go out to play. So i would try to distract him when i knew he really didn't have to potty, now he doesn't ring it so much, sometimes he has to go and just stands at the door, but doesn't ring the bell. I am still making him ring it before we go potty, but i think he is confused. |
Sometimes we had to put ours up,cause Bentley started tapping it when he just wanted attention, not go potty! It got really crazy here for awhile ,bell ringing every few minutes LOL .But now he knows he has to go potty not play! They can be so stubborn sometimes!!!;) |
