Ahhh Help. Wow, my little girl is being a very bad girl today. It's like everything she has learned has gone out the window. She is peeing inside, right in front of me!!! If I put a pee pad down, she just tears it up. She eats anything and everything off the ground outside and inside and when I try to get it out of her mouth she bites at me...HARD. She is gnawing on furniture. It's terrible Basically I want to know how to tell her she is doing something wrong without spanking her of course. She does not respond to no, at all whatsoever. I can yell no all day and she won't even flinch. Any ideas?? I'm desperate I even tried spritzing her face a little with a water bottle when she is bad but I don't know if that is working and she is so tiny it just soaks her. I'm going to read through old thread bc I'm sure there is already good info on here but please help with any suggestions if you can. Thanks! -Chelsey and Abbey |
Okay, when all else fails, there's always....THE CAN! lol! It's a can with pennies or marbles in it and taped up. Don't overuse it though. Just startle with it to get attention and then say "no" firmly. Works for me. Good luck. Just remember...this too shall pass. ;) |
OMG.. do we have the same dog? |

Sometimes when I get that frustrated, I try to change the focus from the bad stuff to the good stuff. Like Coby got a pen off the desk today that he just would not give up. I REFUSED to chase him. He has to learn to give things up immediately in case it's something dangerous. So instead of scolding for something wrong, I reward for the change of direction. If he drops the pen, he immediately gets a treat. With my older dog in training, I asked the trainer if that wasn't really just teaching them to do something wrong in order to get a treat for stopping the bad behavior. I KNOW that they are smart enough to figure that out! ;) She said to just be very clear that you're treating for the good behavior. That just helps me not dwell on the negative behavior. Hang in there!! |

Thanks for the advice first of all. This above statement really helped me out bc I was wondering the same thing. Whenever she went over to the pee pad and started tearing it, I would scold her. Then I was wondering if now she was going to be afraid to go to the pee pad. Ahhh I just want her to be potty trained already, I know it will take lots of time and effort but it's so frustarting to take her out for a long time and all she does is play with everything then I bring her back in and she pees immediately. The weird thing is that whenever I leave her at home alone for long periods of time she NEVER goes potty in the room I leave her in and when I take her out she goes immediately It is only when she is hanging out with me at home that she pees on the floor. The struggle continues...HA I can't stay mad at her when I look down at her sleeping next to me right now... Thank goodness our little furbabies are so precious and loving that they make the hard times worth it. |
