Lots of training problems! I need help! Well my dog was normally very quiet and enjoyed being locked in my room while i was watching tv doing work or cooking. Last week I left a week to new york and asked my mother to take care of him. When I was gone my mother let him roam freely around the house at all times. Now whenever I put him in my room to play he just barks and barks until I let him run around the house. Any ideas to get him to conform to being in the room. (The reason that I have him in my room is that the puppy pads are located in there and he only likes to use them when they are in plain sight if not he pees on th floor  ) Next my mom was feeding him table scraps and today while I was trying to eat lunch he kept barking and barking at me to give him food. I asked my mom and she told me that she fed him table scraps while I was gone because he was so cute. AH!. How do you think I can go about correcting the begging at the table? Another difficulty I am having is that he keeps biting me. I think its because he is beginning to teeth. I hold his mouth and tell him no bite but he just ignores me. He really only bites when he is very hyper. Does this go away after he matures? thanks in advance for the help! |
Do you think it is possible that your little furbaby just wants to be where you are? Maybe a little ex-pen with a piddle pad in it? It is annoying when family members insist on feeding our babies table food, isn't it? My dh finally quit when I told him that our dogs could get pancreatitis from fatty table food and that it might cost over $1,000 at the vets. As for biting, I do a high pitched screech and mine stop. A soda bottle with a few pennies in it also works for some doggies. Good luck. Hope someone else posts some ideas. |
Uh oh. Looks like the "babysitter" set your training back a smidge. ;) I think you'll either have to live with some "barking" while retraining or modify your environment a bit. But don't give in to any table scraps. He'll learn that you won't be giving in. I'd definitely start incorporating him into your area of the house, though. He'll want to be with you, and you'll want him to learn to be a part of your life. You can still do that with an x-pen, but I'm assuming that you'll eventually want him to be able to run around the room that you're in. Good luck - sorry you have to backtrack a little bit. |
When mine would bite me, like when they are teething, I instantly put a rawhide bone or something to chew on that they like. I usually held it till they lost interest. And if they would leave the bone and go for my hand again, I would just put the bone back in their mouths (like a pacifier)....it worked. When you need to keep him in another room, use a gate instead of closing the door. Then he can see you. As for table scraps, you will just have to ignore him when he is begging, or give him one of his "cookies" or food thingees. |
