She poops in her crate!! We got her about 1 week 1/2 ago, she is almost 3 years old. We were told she was potty trained, but apparently not. Molly, our yorkie, does amazing when we are home but every time we have left her in her crate/ or confined to the kitchen she has an accident. My biggest problem is the poop. I have heard many a times that dogs don't go where they lie. She makes a mess... What can I do. To some degree it may be our fault a little, she is alone in ther crate for 9 hours. Please don't think we are horrible people for this. We give her all the love and attention when we get home and on weekends. But I remember my parents working full time and never having a problem with thier dogs holding thier business. Please help! Thanks |
Maybe she is bored. You should leave her with lots of toys and also someting of yours that way she can feel safe. It might be a transition issue as well. Please allow her to adjust. |

I personally think 9 hours is too long in a crate. Is there anyway you can come home in the middle of the 9 and let her out for a bit? They really shouldn't be left in a crate for more then 4 hours without getting a little break to go outside. I have to leave during the day too so if I know I am going to be gone for more than 4 I just leave my baby in a confined area (I use my large tile bathroom) and just leave her toys and water and pee pad in there. |
Thanks The more I read, the better off we are training her on a potty pad over outside becuase of our long hours. I was thinking the bathroom as well. Unfortunately not at the moment can let her out. Neither one of us works close enough to home. Do you think its too late for the potty pad? |
