Is it too late? Cody is 18 months now, and of course he's been my baby since I got him. But I am not pregnant and think I need to retrain him a little. Cody currently sleeps with us, and i've tried to get him to sleep in his own bed at night but all he does it bark ALL night long and eventually I let him in bed with us again, I was thinking about getting a muzzle, but i don't know if i have the heart to do it...it just seems to cruel. I live in an apt, and fortunately cody has a low bark, but does any one have suggestions...that would be great! thanks. |
Hi there... Unfortunately this is a problem that you have created and its one that only you can fix. I think your pup thinks he's the more dominant in your home. Which is why when you take him out of the bed, all he has to do is bark...and he's right back in the bed?!? I dont think you need a muzzle, rather a stern "NO" when he acts out and sticking to your guns when he's barking/whining to get his way. It might be a headache for a few nights, but I think it'll eventually stop the problem...IMO. Lets bump this thread up...so that you can get a little more advise :) |
I agree with Mizbrown- show him who's the boss with a firm no and consisitency. It won't be easy - but it will be worth it. |
That sounds about the right thing to do to get him to stop. Good practice because kids do the same crap to get their way. |
