Baz: Destroyer of Wee Pads Ok so my little guy attacks and destroys his pee pad. he goes on them fine, but then likes to chew, like he loves to chew everything else, the pad to death. Im scared b/c i heard the absorbant material can be dangerous. I got the holder ($24.95!), which helped for a day, but hes back. we tried to isolate him after he does it, but it tends to be while im away so he doesnt understand the delayed punishment. any help? Thanks! Chelsea and Sebastian (Baz) |
He can chew the pad while it's in the pad holder? Wow, he's a strong little boy! I would just leave out a bunch of toys and maybe even a kong to try and give him something else to chew on and occupy himself with. My 2 dogs use to play tug-o-war w/ their wee wee pads but they eventually stopped that. Although once in a blue moon I'll come home from work to find 2 shredded pads. But that doesn't happend often. |
Vandalized potty pad....lol I know some of that is normal... Sometimes I see a blue streak run past me....Its the blue potty pad flying by in Sophie's mouth...lol  She does it off and on...lol ;) |
Mine's a shredder too! Alley loves to tear up his potty pads! They are also in the holders. He starts in one corner and rips it with his claws. After that, it's history for the potty pad. I'm sure he does it out of boredom and why I don't know, because he's got more toys than any puppy I have ever known! I am trying to break him of this too and it is hard since he only does it when I'm at work. I don't see where it does any good to scold him when I come in because he doesn't understand why I'm so mad. So, when I come in from work and the potty pad is shredded, I don't acknowledge him until after the pieces are picked up and the pad has been changed. Then, I talk to him. I think he gets it because he's so happy to see me and play with me as soon as I get in the door when he's been a good boy and I don't have to change the pad first! |
