training help?? Ok Yankee is five months old and we are trying to train with the treats. We are working on SIT well trying to anyway. He is so set in his ways. Blossom cought right on and is doing great. Yankee also has a problem going potty in the house. I take him out and give him plunty of time to potty and he does. But then we come in and within five to fifteen mins. he goes number two again. Any sugestions?? He was doing great with potty training and now he is retracting to potty in the house again. Thanks in advance. Tracy :aimeeyork |
I would block him off in the kitchen or a small room whenever you can not watch him and put pee pads down along with his bed and a few toys and see if that helps! Good Luck! |
Just have a lot of patience.:D I would watch him every minute he is free in the house and when you see him start to go, grab him up and put him outside. Good luck. |
Yup - lots o' patience. But also make really sure that you are adequately rewarding for going where you want. I mean like make it so much FUN that pooping in the house just isn't nearly as much fun. Many of us will tell you that the neighbors think we're crazy juming around and having a potty party along with the treats. One YT'er told the story of how she went out every morning in her robe and jumped and hopped around hooping and hollering. Dogs just LOVE that. Coby and Reggie our outdoor and potty pad trained. For both of them, if they go on the pad without our seeing it, they come and TELL us that they just went in order to get their fun jumping around and their treat. Reggie has trained us to do this for the last 11 years!! :D |
