New poster---Some Qs about Yorkie Poos
 
Well, I have a yorki-poo that is now 8 lbs and 5 months old. He had been litter box trained and goes to poop in it but for some reason he only goes half way into it for peeing (yeah he lifts one leg) so what should I do for this? I read some other posts about putting a liter bottle with stuff in it for him to prop his leg on (I don't understand this concept b/c he has no problem lifting his leg, not like he needs balance so what purpose will this serve?

Also, what is the typical weight for a Yorki-poo, I've heard everything from 4 lbs to 15 lbs?

I dont think the bottle is to prop his leg on...its to be put in the middle for him to pee on..at least that sounds like the concept to me..:D

Also wanted to add that there isnt a typical weight for a mix..since he is 5 months old he is probably close to his adult weight..maybe a pound or two more..do you have pics of him??

I can't help you with the litter boc since Milo goes outside, but as far as the weight goes he was 4lb at 6 monyhs when I got him and now 2 years later he is not quite 7lbs

Welcome to YT. Have you thought of getting one of those tops for the litter box? Or maybe build a box for the litter box. That's what my daughter did and it doesn't even look like a litter box anymore. Good luck.

Build a box? Can you describe this concept to me? Does it surround the litter box?

Also, I do have a pic where I loaded under my profile name (the puppy's pic is here). Do I need to load it somewhere else?

We built a wooden box that the litter box fits into. It has a door in one end of it. We made it so the lid of the box lifts off so we can clean it. It almost looks like a toy box. You can paint it or make it look like anything you want so it won't look like a litter box.

What about using a small rubermaid storage bin. You could cut a hole in it so he could walk inside? You would have to use an electric sander to to make sure there were no jagged edges in the hole and then he could lift his leg on the side of the bin. I don't know if it would hold onto oder though. For as cheap as they are you could just replace it every so often.:confused:

Thanks for all these creative ideas...if you are actually using any of these, can I see a pic?

Also, I'm not understanding why he needs something to lean on to pee...he is young (5 months old only) so what is the support for? Is it more for aim?

What I'm worried about is, he will chew up whatever I use, b/c he's almost done teething. For example, I put a puppy pad under the litter box, he peed on it overnight and then when I got up, it was shredded...see what I have to deal with???
