Problems with training
 

Milo is now 10 months old and I didn't have a lot of time to train him when he was a puppy. So now he pottys wherever he sees fit. He hates being outside, especially in the snow, so he's pee pad trained (not even). He'll go on his pee pads when he feels like it and elsewhere whenever he wants.

He was neutered about a month ago and I thought that this behaviour might stop, but it hasn't. I'm not sure what to do.

He also barks whenever he's bored and wants to play. When I tell him to stop, he runs away and keeps barking. He doesn't come when I call him if he knows that I'm mad.

He also still play bites. I've tried to get him to stop, but it's only getting worse. He had his first grooming recently and he bit the lady who was grooming him. She was not happy.

I don't know what to do with him anymore. Is it too late to train him not to do those things? Help!!! :confused:

ill tell you all i know, which isnt a lot but it may help a little.

ok so.. first. he is not too old. i hear that with the barking what you have to do is IGNORE it.. that doing anything in response is giving them the attention they want, negative or postive. what i do with pebbles is praise her when she is quiet. i read this in my training book. i say "GOOD QUIET" and pet her etc. if she starts to bark again i immediately ignore her again. it seems to be working with keeping her quiet when i want to. however dogs do bark to communicate so its hard to cut it out completely.

you have to teach him to associate coming to you with good things.. dont ask him to come if his "reward" will be "you being mad" .. he wont come. when he comes give him praise and treats only

my puppy still bites too but she is getting better.. when she bites too hard i give a little welp sound like OW that was PAINFUL and she seems to get the point that it was inappropriate. and then she bites a little less hard the following time

as for potty training... you cant half ass it ;) you gotta go full on potty training/serious business, and do the whole watching him at all times/correcting him/taking him to the paper, or the crate training him thing. there are many threads on how to potty train, check some of them out

Lulababy, sounds like you know more than you're giving yourself credit for.

Sounds like you need to step back and sort of start over on a few things. In potty training, I always say that a few months of dedicated hard work will most likely result in years of stress-free living! If you're having trouble, you have to tackle it with 100% attention to the pup unless they are crated or penned. You can gradually expand their free reign area as they become trustworthy. As an example, Coby just turned one year, and he is 100% trained but only in the rooms he has free reign. We are still in the process of adding rooms - but only by watching like a hawk during the time he's in there and walking him back to the puppy pad to remind him of the "path". Hopefully, one day soon, he'll have free reign like our older dog (who by the way is aggravated by all the new puppy gates all over his freakin' castle! ;) )
