Learn to bark from other dogs? I'm thinking of having Duke stay with my friends and Duke's brother from another litter who is 3 years old. I need to be out of town for a few days and cannot take him. My concern is that his brother barks a lot, Duke is almost 5 months old, will he learn to bark from his brother? I can't have him come back and bark at every noise he hears. any advice would help, thanks, :animal-pa |

They definitely learn from other dogs. Teddi never barked at home because my other dog Cassie doesn't bark but when she was in the hospital when she was sick she heard other dogs barking and learned how to bark. I am trying to get her to stop...she doesn't bark all the time but if she hears a loud noise or if something startles her she starts barking. |
They can also learn from people! My husband loves her bark so he was barking at Lucy to make her bark back. I put an end to that real quick:rolleyes: |
Marty learned to "talk" because of Maddie, so I'd definitely say it's possible. |
They do learn very quickly! Mine learnt from the dog sitter's dog to bark when someone comes to our house. He used to not even know how to do that, |
I think maybe they do...Pixie has turned into a terrible yapper!! I bet my neighbours love us!:p Our Staffy doesn't bark at all unless you are playing with him...one of our popular dog walks takes us past the bottom of peoples gardens and their dogs will run to the fence barking as you pass...well pixie is ready for them and does the same back..i am trying the stones in a bottle technique...she also barks at some neighbours..especially when their dog is in the garden, this dog doesn't bark back at her though..its getting a bit embarrassing to be honest! how can such a tiny 3lb yorkie make such a racket!!! |
