Training Help!! I got two puppies- one is about 5 months and weighs 5 lbs., and the other is 3 months and weighs 1 lb. I got the older puppy first, and I had him in the x-pen and tried putting him in the crate, but his crying was unbearable... so I just put a bed there, and his puppy pad. He started to go on there  , so then I got the 2nd puppy and had the older one in the room, while the little one was in the x-pen. She was going on the puppy pad well:thumbup: ... but then when I would let her out to play, she wouldn't run to her puppy pad she would just go where ever she wanted to:thumbdown . The Older puppy is now going everywhere. They both can sit on the puppy pad easily, little chew on toys and stuff, now its becoming less and they seem to both be peeing on the puppy pad... but she has trouble running to the pad and both of them don't poop there:mad: !! Please Help, my fiance is dying here, and he said that he won't be able to keep them if this continues!! I cannot give up on them because I love them and I'm attached, and also I know that must dogs that are given away are given away because of this and I refuse to be one of those people. Please Please Please Help Me!!! |
i wish i had an answer, but i cand ef relate. my 2 1/2 yr old we had trained, tehnw e moved into our house and she lost her training, then just as she was being good, we got another yorkie to keep her company while we were at work. NOw they both have the same habits of peeing whereever they want when they have ANY freedom. But they are great when they are in their play pen. But i cant keep them penned up forever. My vet suggested to put them on a lease when we are home and tie it to our belts and they will not pee in the wrong spot if they are tied next to us. ( but i would be a hypocrate if i told you to do that, b/c we never did)-but thought i would pass on his advise. |
You will just have to start over at square one with both puppies. Keep them in a pen with the pad until they use it regularly then gradually expand their area. |

Maybe you can trying putting more than one pee pad. My yorkie won't pee and poop on the same pad so I put two next to each other and that usually does the trick. I've heard Yorkie's are one of the hardest to potty train! Hang in there! When we were first training Peppermint, we had to watch him like a hawk because he would pee everywhere. Even now, one year later, he still sometimes has accidents. I usually try and take him out at least 3 times a day. |
